  1. Spent the day with my youngest who just finished her summer gig at Cedar Point (a big amusement park). She goes back to college in a few days (out of state), so we made the most of it today. Mom is out of town for a couple of weeks, so it was a Daddy-Daughter Day: Breakfast together at my favorite diner where they always have live music on Saturday mornings; spent a few hours at the Toledo Museum of Art; chilled at home for a while discussing life; then introduced her to my favorite Mexican place for dinner. Of course Rush was played in the car everywhere we went An awesome, awesome day together.
  2. I love each of these stories. Keep 'em coming.
  3. The Fountain of Lamneth V. Bacchus Plateau "...we are entertained"
  4. Nope. Not in the least. It's standard informal English.
  5. QUOTE (CygnusGal @ Aug 1 2012, 08:27 PM) Through into the light of Deneb (Flew into...no?)
  6. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Aug 1 2012, 05:23 PM) I ESPECIALLY get irritated by affect/effect. Come on people, affect is a verb, effect is a noun. EXCEPT for when you're effecting change! I'm a total Grammar Nazi too! So much so that I earn my keep by, among other things, editing Latin textbooks and copyediting newspapers and magazines. Wow, that was a nerdy sentence. (A sentence fragment, that is; but it's not like I'm going to adhere to Chicago Manual of Style in discussion forums...) http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj488/catanstrophe/grammarallergies.jpg
  7. Oops! My bad. Have one of these, on me.

  9. I sorta forgot about this...heh. Well, the winning answer is: Rush / 2112 / AFTK / Hemi / Perm Waves / Power Windows / S&A / Clockwork Angels That means Cyclonus X-1, dethroned emperor, and Empty Mindless Spectre all tied for first place with 5 of 8 correct! Woo! Take a bow! And SchemingDemon is the only loser. I dug your analysis and effort, Cyclonus!
  10. Virtuality "Bringing wolves"
  11. Are swallowed by a fearsome force!
  12. Love how Alex Skolnick is wearing a Rush shirt in this "making of" .
  13. So do you get to play Rush in the store?
  14. Infinity, the star that would not die-eeeeeee
  15. Today I see the answer that I was wrong Oh man, my questions on this garden road
  16. QUOTE (CygnusGal @ Jul 30 2012, 01:51 PM) I like your anecdote! Anytime that Rush unintentionally overlaps reality is serendipity. Thanks for sharing. I keep trying to re-create the effect by scratching lottery tickets right when Ged sings "Big Money," but it just doesn't work.
  17. Love me some Lamneth. I had to vote for No One at the Bridge for reasons already given above. Like CygnusGal, I can almost smell the salty air. And dat solo! It was inspired by Steve Hackett of early Genesis fame (another one of my faves), and it sounds like it could have been lifted straight off of Selling England By the Pound. A very close second place would be a tie between In the Valley and The Fountain. Bacchus Plateau does little for me. An anecdote that will probably be of no interest to anyone but myself: In '98ish, as I was pulling out of my space in a crowded parking lot (Kopp's Frozen Custard, Milwaukee), I had Lamneth playing. I turned to look behind me, and my eyes fell on a vanity plate that read I AM ME -- at the precise moment Geddy sang the words! It was such a jarring, disorienting effect that I hit the brakes, dazed for a moment. Never forgotten that.
