  1. I don't think you guys really realize how weird a lot of RUSH fans are.
  2. Hold Your Fire is wickedly underrated in terms of Geddy's bass playing.
  3. Agreed. Personally, Grace Under Pressure and Hold Your Fire are my favorite tours to listen/watch. Mainly because Geddy's bass sounds so damn sexy. Especially during YYZ.
  4. *vomit* No. You seem to come up with any excuse to make playlists. lol
  5. I "love" paying over 100 bucks for every show to listen to Tom Sawyer, Limelight, and 2112...
  6. I have major doubts they use click tracks. They know how to count. I wouldn't really mind if they used samples or not. It can make songs cooler. I think it's more of a personal thing for them to challenge themselves to make it sound more like the album version.
  7. Vapor Trails probably sounded more like My Favorite Headache because I bet Geddy had a little bit more of a drive to create the album. So, he probably produced a large chunk of it. I would like to add in, if you go to Grooveshark..type in "Vapor Trails Less Vapor" and you will get a very good version of if. PS: random fact...I hate Victor and My Favorite Headache is decent.
  8. Geddy...I can be humorous but when the time comes, take things seriously.
  9. Minor edit: Without the commercial failure and dissapoinment of Rush's greatest album, 2112 would not have happened. I was going to say this, too. This is actually a pretty tough question. I feel if they would've had an okay drummer, they wouldn't be as big as they are now. I would think kind of an "under the radar" band but they have those one or two songs everyone has on their iPod.
  10. on this album Ged does let it all hang out vocally. I wish there was a documentary on the making of this album....people would buy it I think. They have one for S&A. They have to have one for this. I would love to see the recording of the piano and strings portions.
  11. This is seriously my prime pre-00's era tour. Oh my gosh.
  12. Yup. Big fan of Counterparts and Test for Echo. I even have to admit, You Bet Your Life, from Roll the Bones, is awesome. :outtahere:
  13. Still pop it on frequently. My mind is always blown by Geddy's playing all the time and I learn something new from every listen.
  14. RUSH isn't able to critique!? They're supposed to like EVERYTHING. What's with this.....? ...Simmer down there, champ. My opinion about them has not changed what-so-ever after reading this.
  15. Let them just do what THEY want, in general. They've done more than enough for fans than any band would.
  16. Really? You don't think the whole of Hemispheres, Snakes and Arrows, Test for Echo, and Permenant Waves are "too hard"? You have to dig deeper into his playing. Take a look at his "Taking Center Stage" DVD. You will notice things he does you would not even believe are possible. Leave that Thing Alone and Main Monkey Business come to mind. His techniques are pretty hard to master, especially keeping a rhythm. I know a lot of drummers who think they're hotshots but can't even keep a simple Beatles song the same tempo by the end. Now, don't take this the wrong way as saying you don't have enough experience to replicate his playing but it's pretty much a job to keep up with his current playing level. I haven't seen one person keep their left foot going on the highhat and using it as a metronome like he does. The man is a machine. All four of his limbs are constantly doing stuff now it just makes you want to throw up that he's actually a human being. I'm surprised he doesn't even use his head as a limb to play. Even my dad is a drummer (38 years of experience and Neil has been his idol since he first started drumming) and he is still floored by Neil's playing. I would say all-together...Cygnus X-II, La Villa, Test for Echo, Gangster of Boats Series, Headlong Flight and Natural Science are the craziest and complicated RUSH songs. But it's not a job to keep up with his playing. Natural Science has NOTHING difficult in it. Hemispheres the song is basic patterns and disco beats on the hi-hat. La Villa is legitimitely challenging, but that's mainly due to the abrupt switches in feels/parts that need to be smoothly transitioned. Keeping a hi-hat going through a beat is really easy for anyone who's gained any sort of limb independence from playing drums for a few years, I'm not knocking Neil at all. His parts are GREAT. But they are nowhere near difficult or as difficult as people make them out to be. I'm sure you're a great drummer, and I mean this playfully—not personally, but give me a break. You are overstating your point. If in your opinion Natural Science has "nothing difficult in it," then I trust you are drumming for a successful rock group... Soo much going on. I love this song. :dweez:
  17. If they don't do an R40 tour...They're the worst band on the planet. They don't deserve their fans because they don't do ANYTHING for them. Sacrifice their time by playing for us (even though their almost to the young age of 60), tour for 36 years worth of their career, play their asses off for over 20 albums, donating, thanking US as fans that we helped them to put them in the R&R HoF...Yeah, they're terrible people to their fans.

  19. I meant how does he play it while singing. That seems to be the horribly difficult part. Oh. Yeah. That makes sense lol. I never understood how he could do it on Digital Man. My goodness. He's a machine.
  20. Newb bassist here..The chorus to the Anarchist actually isn't too terrible. It's a fairly straightforward bass song. But the chorus does sound pretty amazing.
