Not nearly as much as he talks about the "Universe" on My Favorite Headache.

    The Garden

It starts off nice, but the bridge with the piano is pretty saccharine.
  3. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Aug 12 2012, 05:45 PM) QUOTE (NYM86 @ Aug 12 2012, 02:30 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Aug 12 2012, 11:37 AM) I was wondering, were you the most skippable person when they were picking players for your sports teams? I truly don't understand this comment. When you saw this thread, what occurred in your mind to make you think of the OP's...athletic ability? I guess I was wrong, You must be the most Skippable person concerning sports. Since it must have stuck a nerve with you. Oh yeah dude. I'm just fuming over some complete anonymous insignificant nobody's assessment of my athletic abilities over a progressive rock band's message board! lol. But keep it rolling, I can't wait to see how you spin THIS post into your self-serving narrative, ya dumbass.
  4. Honestly they could spend three hours playing my least favorite songs from each album. I'll still go and have a great time because it's friggin Rush dude.
  5. QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Aug 12 2012, 03:13 PM) Best song Rush has ever written
  6. I'd love to hear more Test For Echo all the way around (except Resist, like Cyclonus said). Great hard rock album with exactly the type of midrange vocals Geddy can still nail.

    is it just me ?

I'm not too big on CA's lyrics myself either. To me, Neil is at his best when he writes on all the facets of real life and the experiences we go through every day. I love his observations and commentaries on albums like Hold Your Fire, Roll the Bones, and Snakes & Arrows. CA is too so steeped in fantasy, it's not something I can relate to and be like "Yeah, he just articulated exactly how I feel about -X-."
  9. As you are all well aware, The Anarchist has a pretty lengthy instrumental intro. I have heard varying opinions about this on scattered threads, so I thought I'd get a poll going. Some say it's a little overdone and could be slimmed down a bit, while others think think it's such a great jam, one riff after another, that it would be cool if it went on longer. I understand both viewpoints, but ultimately I like the intro as it is. What say you? EDIT: Smilies don't show up in poll options? Really? Well, if anyone wants the full effect, here it is... It goes on a tad bit too long. It could go on longer and I wouldn't mind! Cool riffs galore! It's just right.
  10. I have some quibbles with your classification of certain songs but I went with Shorter.
  11. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Aug 4 2012, 08:36 PM) grammy's, whammies, oscars, who gives a sh*t. its everyone showing up kissing ass and massaging each others ego's. Seriously. Cool if Rush wins something, but I could go the rest of my life without even hearing the names of these awards ever again.
  12. So far yes, though I think Deftones is releasing an album in October.
  13. QUOTE (ThinkingBig @ Jul 30 2012, 02:45 PM) QUOTE (HigherWater @ Jul 24 2012, 08:58 PM) Good God! I've been away from the forum for about a week and it seems like in that time the haters have completely taken over! Why is Rush not aloud to write a song with a verse/chorus/bridge alignment (The Wreckers) or a song with a nice bouncy melody (Wish Them Well)? CA is a good if not great balanced record that the guys can be very proud of. I cannot believe that a Forum member would say, "I'd be embarrassed for Rush if they played that song on the radio." What a worthless, obnoxious thing to say. I'm sorry but seriously, as much as I hate Superconductor I would never say I was embarrassed for Rush. What embarrasses me are Rush fans that act like turds every time the guys try to give us something new. Like the new album, hate the new album-- Whatever. But don't for a second feel embarrassed for Rush-- They are a lot better than you! Because Haters need anger in their lives to feel whole. So now just because not everyone wants to heap superlatives on CA, you consider yourself qualified to label them "haters" and psychoanalyze their lives? The audacity of some people here is utterly mindboggling.
  14. Well the lyrics would've been better.

    Analog Kid

While I haven't heard it live, I can easily see someone putting it up there with Rush's greatest. Vivid, imaginative lyrics, energetic verses, lush chorus, and that guitar solo.

  17. Signals. The dog and fire hydrant imagery is so delightfully random.
  18. It's a cool song, I feel like it gets its due plenty.

QUOTE (av450 @ Aug 2 2012, 05:45 PM) QUOTE (They Bow Defeated @ Aug 2 2012, 05:32 PM) I think maybe we're being punk'd. I believe the proper term is "trolled" Both terms work.
  20. Really not understanding what's so special about this review
  21. Fly By Night any day of the week. Caress of Steel is by and large a joke to me.
