  1. QUOTE (rushgoober @ May 6 2012, 12:39 PM) I'm actually quite amazed, with all the info that's come out about CA thus far, that we don't definitively know whether these songs have been re-recorded or not. yeah i mean a little has been said about nearly every CA track so its frankly a bit bizarre we dont have some kind of confirmation they either have/havent been re-recorded
  2. yeah i sent a stamped addressed envelope and a biro to the uk sheffield arena on the roll the bones tour, together with a very short synopsis of a dream i'd had the night before and got it sent back with neil's autograph and a short personal message its still, and always will be, one of if not THE, most treasured possession i have.... was awesome when it arrived in the post and i still occasionally look at it now and think 'wow man Neil Peart wrote that for me' totally awesome
  3. whenever i roll the intro thru my head the track turns into Driven

    Headlong Flight

QUOTE (default236 @ May 2 2012, 03:30 PM) I love Neil's work but I'm kinda getting over the song. yeah me too, no urge to play it at all... which is very unusual for me and new rush music still playing bu2b and caravan though so still high hopes for the album if headlong flight the worst track on CA the album will be a classic
  5. after bu2b and caravan i became extremely optimistic about clockwork angels, bu2b in particular showed a new dynamic that worked for me and the songwriting/musical composition was back in the place where all the good rush stuff came from i think...... refecting on which, did headlong flight increase my optimism for this new album or even lower it, or did it change nothing at all what i mean is, i know a lot of fans will believe headlong flight a decent piece of rush music but is it good enough or in the sweet zone enough to actually raise your optimism for the new album even higher than either bu2b or caravan did or, like me, was headlong flight an ok rush tune but not so much an epic belter to expand the standard even higher or, i suppose there's a few fans out there who would regard headlong flight as a drop in standard sufficient to make them pessimistic now in some way for the album just wondered, so thought id throw in my first ever poll
  6. to me parts of the track musically indicate a kind of military/attack theme, like obviously neil's opening percussion but more specifically a section of Al's guitar around 3:52 that has a machine gun kinda riff to it like battle sounds, maybe one of those airships firing or being fired upon i dunno
  7. flacid penii and flicking beans juvenile and purile disgusting talk that shouldnt be spoken by gentlemen or read by ladies i'm enraged
  8. QUOTE (guinness2112 @ Apr 21 2012, 03:12 PM) Nice comeback. What are you twelve. This forum constantly has polls that voice opinions where we rate certain aspects of this band. Cut the crap with this song is better or more epic than others. We all sound like a bunch of girls. The trio deserves better than our petty arguments for or against what ever they do. With that being said I think No one at the bridge is F.......ing Major Epic. hey, i dont mind sounding like a girl sometimes its sexehhh
  9. is there any need for this kind of vulgarity? its a rush forum for pete's sake do we have to be disrespectful to ladies? plenty porn sites to discuss bean flicking thanks.
  10. i'm an older geezer now who followed seriously the great rock music of the 70's/80's and 90's, truly great sh*t going around in those days its mindblowing when compared to today really.. cant say i'm fully tuned into whats going on today but from what ive heard and seen there's nothing, absolutely nothing, that can compare with rush now its depressing really as there really shouldnt be a reason for it, the same human beings are in the business doing the same creative stuff, all you can put a finger on is the lack of willingness to take a chance these days... in the 70's and 80's everyone was just chucking everything into the mix to see what happened, if it didnt pay off then back to the board have another go.... rush were the epitomy of that attitude, caress of steel was a flop in many respects but the band believed in it and believed it had to be done, likewise with 2112 and the money men in the business just kept one eye on em until the major success arrived and then completely left the band to get on with it i look around today and i honestly cant see one single rock act to compare with rush, or even the countless other great rock acts of their heyday... only radiohead hit the spot for me and even they dinos now
  11. bu2b has elements the other two just dont have.... it oozes class and subtlety, particularly in keyboards but also in Al & Ged's guitars and it has that element of surreality essential in truly great rush music caravans ok and HF not a bad effort but the quality of bu2b matches anything on any rush album i'm hoping just for two or three more tracks of this quality on CA... just two or three will do, 4 or 5 would be absolutely excellent.
  12. id certainly have shown an interest, particularly as it would have sounded like my fav band rush not too many soundalikes around
  13. well frequency of play isnt what made me slightly tired of the track... it just isnt a good enough tune. as a patchwork jam session it works quite well, Alex and Ged energetically doing their thing sounding like only they can sound like, but the general tune just doesnt flow outa the same place bu2b or caravan came from imo i played bu2b and caravan to death, still do actually, and still not tired of em.... probably in the same way all the other great rush material never tired me...... i can play spirit of radio and get the same groove from it i did like 30 years ago i kinda got bored with headlong flight after half a dozen plays no, the rate of play had nothing to do with it in my case, and i suspect the same with most fans who feel the same it aint the end of the world tho we aint haters we still worship the guys
  14. all i know, after so much frustration and complaining about the wait for HF i was kinda satisfied for a few days but now i'm like six more freakin weeks to wait for f*cks sakes by the way, how the f*ck do you do italics in here i cant work it out to save my life
  15. easy. BU2B. only track of the three in which the guys on fire in every way. Caravan next, was really hopin for an improved album version although the version we got only just falls short.
  16. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Apr 25 2012, 08:55 AM) As for the song sounding slapped together or disjointed, I don't agree. At all. "La Villa" is a far better example of a song with a bunch of random parts slapped together, but since it's more proggy, no one would dare complain about it. please, nooo.... dont compare HF in any way with the great La Villa you cant tell me La Villa a piece of music with a bunch of random parts slapped together no wayyyy La Villa is genius mann... composed by a higher force HF's a couple really good artists jammin around for the sake of it going thru the motions even.. its ok but most definitely not genius sent from the gods
  17. QUOTE (Alchemical @ Apr 24 2012, 06:46 PM) A little bit. Oddly enough, I can still listen to Caravan and BU2B without growing bored. yeah me too, never got bored with em over all this time and yeah, i actually got a bit tired of HF after a couple days really.... even though it isnt really that bad a tune i think the band hit the sweet spot with caravan and bu2b in particular..... i dont think they hit the exact spot with HF i'll say it again though, if HF one of the worst tracks on CA it'll be a great album
  18. counterparts..... now that was an indisputably great rush album in every way
  19. i'm very confident that CA wont be superior to VT i know that for sure there's a good chance it'll surpass s&a but its wait and see
  20. thanks for the info man i'll keep an eye out for it.
  21. doesnt sound like a song, sounds like a collage of stuff cut n pasted together i mean for instance the radio edit of spirit of radio was kinda acceptable in its day just removing the reggae bit without harming the general flow but wayyy too much butchered from the original in this one you just cant do that if i was Alex Neil or Geddy id have been embarrassed to chuck this out to fans who'd been waiting so long and by the way i hate sayin this
  22. well it goes to show how everyone different tastes i suppose, coz all the rest of the tunes on s&a with exception of possibly armor & sword are just kinda average to me compare the songwriting and musical composition of BF to HF.... no contest to me, one's a work of art the other's a decent sound doodle
  23. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Apr 23 2012, 09:22 AM) QUOTE (lifeson90 @ Apr 23 2012, 09:12 AM) likewise with far cry and bravest face off s&a... for months id play em to death Hmm...Bravest Face. That's an interesting choice considering all the tracks on S&A. never understood why some fans never got bravest face i think its a brilliant rush classic
  24. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Apr 22 2012, 07:01 PM) Not a bad song, but I'm not as into it as I was. yeah same here bu2b and caravan got unlimited play from me morning noon & night for weeks/months likewise with far cry and bravest face off s&a... for months id play em to death not feeling the urge for HF i have to say i mean some interesting sounds on it and listenable to etc just doesnt have the balance and flow a great rush tune needs more like a sound doodle really a couple guys jammin and playing around to see what noises they can string together still, if HF one of the weakest tracks on CA its going to be a helluva album and blow s&a out the water
