  1. Wyman/Watts is one of the great rock and roll rhythm sections. Here's two of my Stones favourites. And, I think Sticky Fingers comes as close possible to a completely listenable Stones album. This one's just a great riff. http://youtu.be/HNY8eYmzdH4 Great groove on this song. I love Charlie's drumming. Can't you hear him knocking? http://youtu.be/CJ8MvnEVCqM <insert video of Gimme Shelter here>
  2. I was in high school. I'd never seen anything like it. Pat Benatar is the image that sticks in my mind. From Rush, they used to show Subdivisions, TS and Red Barchetta (from ESL), Le Studio video of Limelight, Distant Early Warning and TBE when GUP came out. I learned to hate a lot of 80's pop on MTV - Haircut 100? Split Enz? Duran Duran? (although I finally warmed up to Duran Duran's Rio and Wedding album years later) They used to run a concert movie on Saturday nights. I can remember one Saturday night recording ESL and making a tape of the show too since it had Limelight and the album version of ESL did not. I think I still have the VHS tape. That cassette tape is long gone, as are most of them. The "M" in MTV used to stand for music. :o
  3. It is truly amazing how strong we are. Thank you for sharing that story. I'm happy you're here and alive too! :)
  4. A belated Happy Birthday, billybobjoe1881! I hope that you had a great day! :rush: :madra:  :hail: :cheerleader: :yay:
  5. I had been so effective. Now, I am not. http://www.thescifiworld.net/img/smilies/galactica/cylon/cylon_newanime009.gif
  6. I don't have one. One of the best lines about Facebook came from Charles Barkley, which I wish I had said first: "I'm not trying to catch up with people from my past, I'm running from them." Exactly! For me, it's like a high school reunion. I didn't like you back then, why would I like you any more now? :o If you were meant to be my friend, I would be talking to you through some media already (like a phone or text or PM, or something), or we'd connect on a common interest we have ... like a certain Canadian band. :rush: and be drawn to each other through common bonds. We are planets to each other ... My TRF friends In many ways, you *are* like my family. :) Rick ETA: Oh, yeah ... hot enough for ya' ;) You might not want to hug me just now my friend. A little warm on the train ride in this morning, and I had to wear a suit today. I like your point about high school reunions. I feel the same way. If we weren't friends then, or we haven't kept in touch since then, there's probably a reason. On the T? That's a great place to find a creepy new friend! :o Glad the heat broke. Much more tolerable now. Ahhh, New England and Canadian air
  7. People miss Journey? Just between us I think it's time for us to realize The wind we see we sometime fear will blow Just between us I think it's time for us to recognize The city made of green The Tin Man, the Lion and Scarecrow Couldn't resist. :syrinx:
  8. A guilty conscience has proven to be too much weight to bear! I now deny I ever made this post! :madra: Was response. Is now retracted. Is now not a response. Whew ... glad I got that off my back ...
  9. Those are fantastic photos, RGLT! I love the sense of humour that comes though in them. :D That's wonderful you had such a great interaction with someone you respect so much and whose music you love. I'm really happy for you, that must have been an awesome night! :) Thanks for sharing your photos!
  10. What a wonderful day for the both of you! Congratulations, Tony! Wonderful photo. You and your daughter look great! :D

  14. I will admit, I really enjoyed the first six episodes of Glee after which it became hit-and-miss, imo. I dropped it from TiVo after Finn, Rachael, Santana and Quinn graduated. The show had a quirkiness that really worked at times and really didn't at other times. I also enjoy pop music, despite my "rocker chick" reputation with my friends. I was very sad to hear about Cory's death. So young and so much wasted talent. :( Sadly, when drugs are involved, the inevitable result is jail, institutions and death. My heart goes out to Cory's family, friends and to the many fans he had. RIP Cory. I hope your family and friends can find peace with your untimely passing.
  15. Agreed. They were so great! Especially Mark II. Just wow! Ritchie! Jon! Paicey! Gillan! Glover! Ritchie makes no mistakes. Ever. And RIP, Jon We need a rocking Hammond organ emoticon. :haz: :hail: :guitar: :hi: A great thread! :hail: :guitar: :hi:
  16. Today, just to add variety, I decided to acknowledge that this *is* a response. My hope is that everyone sees it and realizes just how flagrant my violation of the premise of this thread is. :P In defiance, this *is* a rebellious response! :madra: http://www.thescifiworld.net/img/smilies/galactica/cylon/cylon-pancarte08.gif

  23. He just might be too old school for some. I doubt many would remember his transvestite days. I still have nightmares of his 'sister' seductively singing 'Blue Christmas' one holiday season long ago. Few also would remember the beating he received at the hands of ladirushfan80 at Coney Island (or shit, was that Jersey?). Then, of course, was mini-Necro hobbit that delicately crooned "Rivendell". Classic stuff. So yeah, for those that don't know Necro, here's an old Rushian song that's usually served with borscht and shashlyk.... Something for Necro Waiting for the cross dress change To put the bra atop Waiting for the rainbow's end To cast its gay full stop Countless fops You pass the cops You don't get something for Necro You don't get postings for free You won't get banned With a drink out of your hands No matter what your post might be Waiting for Chargers to win And turn his team around Looking for a comic to the Marvels with no sound Looking for an open store! What he does is take some photos What he does is travel U.S. What he loves is a chick named 'Ceej' What he did was at printing press In his van is Chong and Cheech Let's 'em smoke him by bong Let his gut be the last siege And the right of his own wrong :LMAO: Ok, now I'm starting to think you're both trying to hurt me ;) :rfl: :rfl: Happy Anni Necro!
  24. A belated Happy Birthday, frippy! I hope that you had a wonderful day! :yay:  :rush:
