QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 25 2012, 04:50 PM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 25 2012, 03:44 PM) Does Roadrunner get a piece of ticket sale dollars? No . They take Everything else I know people that were with RR and my band Almost was with them. You have no idea how much of the song royalties and merch money they take. Now, Rush is not a new band and i would think the Morons they have working for them would not take a deal like this . RR is always going to take a cut of the bands merch because nobody[rock bands] really sells albums like they used to anymore and that is how bands make money, Merch. RR will be happy when the total cost of the recording/album promotion etc is payed for. The merch is RR's gravy And your band is ?

QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 25 2012, 11:54 AM) Hmmm... I like the intro, the music in the verses (not the vocals), like the ripping guitar solo and bass breakdown section, and absolutely hate the chorus (big steel wheels). One of my least favorite Rush choruses of all time. Sounds like an S&A chorus leftover to me. It sounds like something the Beatles would do, 40 years ago. Not a fan at all and it feels incredibly out of place in a song trying to have a hard edge. Completely ruins the flow and sounds like it was written for a different song and just shoehorned into this. That is the best part of the whole song

QUOTE (gestet2112 @ Apr 25 2012, 02:53 PM) Thank you volunteers! Earlier this year some of our supporters got together to say thank you to the people who donate their time for people living with kidney disease and their families. Among them was Alex Lifeson of Rush. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...d&v=BE_x2LwSQJc Alex can be seen @ 0:44 - 0:53 This one touches my heart as I was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1997 & was on dialysis for 5-1/2 yrs until I got a kidney transplant in Dec.2004. Since 1998 I have been a vounteer for The Kidney Foundation of Canada. Thanks for this Alex!! That is so cool, hope all is well my friend, i am just down the qew in Hamilton. Cheers

That is so NOT COOL You never heard that rumor? QUOTE 35:I've heard <rumor> about <band member>. Does anybody know anything about the truth of it? Does Neil Peart have cancer? These rumors have been popping up for quite some time now. Here are some of the ones that have been shown to be wrong over the years by the activities of the band: - Alex is dying of cancer - Neil is dying of cancer - Geddy is dying of cancer - Geddy has throat cancer; he's not dying, but can never sing again - Geddy is going blind from stage lights. As of March 4 1993, the "Neil has cancer" and "Neil has AIDS" rumors have been "officially" stated to be just that: rumors with no basis in fact. In the February 1994 issue of Modern Drummer magazine, Neil states that he does not have cancer. Link Heard them all, so NOT COOL, just sayin Thank you Oh Definer of Coolness.

QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 24 2012, 09:11 AM) QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Apr 24 2012, 07:57 AM) [...] There are 3 or 4 really good sites out there that specialize in music torrents that help you download very excellent stuff that has NOT been comercially released. They are very vigilant about making sure nothing shared is in any way comercially available. An example of what's available would be the pro-shot 1994 Auburn Hills Rush concert. That would be one of the best things I've ever obtained via torrenting. There are tons of audio "bootlegs" too. [...] This intrigues me greatly. I know of some general torrent sites, but I don't trust them. I'd be very, very interested in a music-centric site that curates the available recordings. Can you name the ones you meant? Demonoid.me is the best, imho

QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 23 2012, 10:05 PM) how on earth do you download a torrent? do you need a special program? sorry, i know next to nothing about downloading albums... All you need is a bit torrent( u torrent), register at the various torrent sites(demonoid.me, the pirate bay, traders den, bootleg universe, etc, and you are on your way.

QUOTE (tas7 @ Apr 21 2012, 11:49 PM) I have Sector 3 and Signals doesn't come anywhere near the 12 inch singles I had.Maybe it's like those magic eye pictures where people keep saying," Can't you see it?" Maybe, you can't hear it

QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 21 2012, 06:36 PM) Oh man... honestly, I'd do a search here and check out a couple of old threads. Some very (very) vocal people are adamantly against the Sectors releases because they don't like the new mixes. Other people (the majority, I think - and I'm not just saying that, I objectively think it's the majority) approve of them. I like them. I don't think any one album stands out on the whole for me (maybe Signals), but I love what they've done with some specific songs, like Mission. I agree, i really enjoy the Sectors sets. I don't understand the bashing that they get.

QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Apr 21 2012, 01:54 PM) QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Apr 20 2012, 06:14 PM) I was watching WBZ news this afternoon at 12:00. That's Boston's local CBS affiliate station. Turns out that Fenway Baseball Park is celebrating its 100th birthday. Anyway, when the TV anchor was interviewing their reporter at the park, Tom Sawyer was blasting loud in the background. Apparently, they were playing music as they were preparing the park for visitors. The reporter was having to talk over the volume of the music. He then mentioned that considering what Fenway was celebrating, it was appropriate that they were playing Rush. Now that's something that never happens, wouldn't you agree? I turned it on a little later......Wish i heard that! Red Sox and Rush fan ! Geddy is a Jays fan, i have seen him behind homeplate, numerous times

QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 19 2012, 01:15 PM) QUOTE (presto123 @ Apr 19 2012, 01:39 AM) but Headlong Flight makes 2112 sound downright wimpy. I am stunned the boys could pull this off at this stage in the game your enthusiasm is admirable, but once the fresh new car smell of HF wears off, you might come down to earth a little bit. Over 20 listens so far, and i still smell a new Mustang
