  1. Al is great at fast up~down picking; La Villa is a great example, as mentioned in the op. He also employs chromatic runs in some of those leads, as in playing notes in natural succession that aren't actually in the key of the scale he's basing the solo on. Result = Awesome!
  2. A little into the beginning of the solo in Limelight, after those three low notes (G#~B~G#[octave lower]....), there a slide sound with ghost like reverb, for a second, going into the higher note section....love it!!! Well, that's one of MANY. :)
  3. This was my view of Alex's "2112 Shuffle" in Brooklyn. http://s1075.photobu...tml?sort=3&o=32
  4. Hash~Oil...liquid grace. :smoke:
  5. It's back up!!! :dweez: Living it all agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain!!! :bump: :ebert:  :Alex: :Neil: :geddy:
  6. Read the first post. He makes it pretty clear why it matters to him. I tend to agree. We all have our opinions.. Well, I mean, I'm all with him of how amazing it was. I remember I got my wisdom teeth pulled the day it came out and I was high on Vicodin so it made the experience even more pleasurable. But I'm sure it will be back up again, sometime soon. It doesn't mean it's the end of the world. I asked a legitimate question, not deeming the end of times...jeeez.
  7. That video on YouTube was the first taste of what was to come from the release of Clockwork Angels. The memories of the shock from how AWESOME that new song was is something I'll NEVER forget...but now that video seems to be "Private" now...and "sorry". What the hell is up with that!?
  8. I still don't have this to this day. I gave up a long time ago on this riff and never revisited it. I "cheat" when I do play it - non-guitarist/non-rush fans can't tell the difference, but it's not right. I should tackle this again someday. If I recall, I couldn't quite get the picking right to hit that open E after the fretted D and have it sound smooth. I still can't play it either. I'm guessing it is a mental thing as I haven't tried to figure it out in probably 10 years. I don't think I ever got close either. Another reason is that we've all heard the song a million times and I'd rather focus my efforts on other tunes. Here, let Alex show you how to play it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc209Q9m6x8 My personal favorite is the solo in No~One at the Bridge as it was the first guitar solo I learned to play. :) Holy crap! You mean I've been playing this RIGHT all these years? I always thought there was an open E after the each D note. Stupid guitar Player magazine from the 80's - I think I've believed this for over 20 years now and always thought I was cheating by playing it exactly as Alex show in this clip. Whoda thunk! What's sick is that it really isn't that hard to play, which makes this riff all the awesome that it is! I really appreciate that Alex put this video out there, and that this clip is still up...EVERY transcript or tab of this I've ever seen is WRONG, LOL!

  10. IMO, Losing It is a "swan~song" portraying the demise of a performer and a writer...at this point of their career as they are aging and yet firing on ALL cylinders creatively, and live...that song just doesn't fit the plan... :)
  11. You're welcome, frip...I got a Geddy in flight as well...
  12. After all ,from all those the years of ridicule from the "hosts" of this honor...Lerxst was right on! and blah blah blah blah....
  13. http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w428/rushon1/654b12b3.jpg $50 bucks for a right on red, but they sent me a nice shot of my Jeep! :)
  14. I hope they are practicing it right now.... :)
  15. A little musical breakdown of Clockwork Angels from the "Authentic Guitar Tab Edition: Rush~ Clockwork Angels" . Just going to list keys and time signatures visited within each song. Caravan: E, F, G~4/4, 2/4, 6/4, 5/4, 3/4 BU2B: G~4/4 Clockwork Angels: B, D~6/8 The Anarchist: D, G~4/4 Carnies: E, C~4/4, 2/4 Halo Effect: D~4/4, 3/4 Seven Cities Of Gold: E~4/4, 3/4 The Wreckers: C, G~4/4 Headlong Flight* Alex uses open E tuning in this song which this transcription totally ignores...grrrr E~4/4, 3/4 <snip> Wish Them Well: A, G, B, F~4/4, 2/4 The Garden: F, Bb~4/4 ...just stats from a transcription with errors; it is what it is and whatever....Clockwork Angels is a late period Rush Classic Masterpiece, imo.
  16. I've noticed that the hat, and a shirt I got from the shows I attended, have "North America 2012~2013" stitched and printed on them. I can't wait for the "2013" part of the tour!!! ;)
  17. I can not do only one show per tour, NO WAY! It is totally unhealthy to torture oneself doing only one show if you're a Rush~freak posting here, that's for sure!
  18. Excellent photos!!! Nice review too, it was a GREAT show! Thanks for posting!
  19. After sorting through the pics I got, here's the only one I was able to get of Alex's 2112 dance... http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w428/rushon1/RushBrooklynNY10_22_2012260_zpsda036649.jpg What a pro!!!

Got some nice pictures as well! Excellent!!! I hope you got Alex doing the 2112~Shuffle!!!!! What a GREAT show! My 3rd so far, and the best! Venue and area were great too. If that place was once a dump, it sure isn't now. Clockwork Angels was just very powerful tonight, I LOVE it. I was on the floor getting my Rush~freak on... I think I have whip~lash, LOL!!! Alex's little 2112 dance while he was, err... patiently waiting for his replacement guitar(must have blown a string) was HILARIOUS! I like this set list best between the two, especially for TMP, and 7 Cities. GREAT SHOW!!!
  21. QUOTE (Astroboy2112 @ Oct 21 2012, 04:11 PM)I took a few videos, but plan to film most of the CA section in Brooklyn where i have orchestra seats. Here is the first one i uploaded. http://youtu.be/B8zpwJ_ORxQ Im uploading The Anarchist now - which sounded amazing! As you can see the people in my section were standing. They stood the whole show and they rocked pretty hard on some new songs too. Also u can see the brunette violinist is now a blonde and u can see David Cambell doing a bit of his thing as well. Nice! Thanks for sharing!!! Looking forward to The Anarchist, that song ROCKED!!! Hope you get some good footage @ Barkley's tomorrow! See you there!!!
