  1. QUOTE (-Ender- @ Sep 19 2011, 01:27 PM)BCC > Chickenfoot No BCC>>>>>>>>>>>Chickenfoot OR TCV
  2. The look on Gus's face when Jesse is dressing down the Mexican team for the condition of the lab is just perfect.
  3. The album will be less than perfect ? In other words like just about every other Rush album ever released ? Oh for a return to the days of the 40 min album.
  4. Any set of lyrics skewering religion is cool with me. Including these.
  5. Daltrey's voice has been shot for years.
  6. I love Thin Lizzy, but the only song you'll ever hear on US radio is "The Boys are back in Town" , they have SO much other great material.
  7. Better American bands than VH: Metallica The Ramones The Replacements
  8. Colonel By-Tor, in the Forest, with an arrow.
  9. Very good "gateway" album, and same as OP, may not have gotten into them otherwise. Having said that, my favorite album of theirs now that I've been into them a long time is MOP followed by RTL.
  10. From their underrated follow up "If you shave your legs I'll stay home every night I'll defer to you, I'll let you win every fight I'll forget about all the things that you said All the times you've hurt me and left me for dead If you Neet your legs I'll lie at your feet I won't come home drunk and fall fast asleep I'll ignore the fact that you've broken my spirit That contempt in your voice, I'll pretend I don't hear it I'll do anything that you want If it means that we can stay together I'll do anything that you want Can't we keep the peace and stay together If they're soft and smooth I'll be faithful and true I'll forget all my friends that take time from you I know you're not attracted to me any more But we can keep that hidden behind our locked door If they're sleek and shiny we can have a child You can call it want you want, you can let it run wild Just rub yourself against me once in a while Let me run my lips down them, give me a reason to smile I'll do anything that you want If it means that we can stay together I'll do anything that you want Can't we keep the peace and stay together"
  11. Geoff Tate: "Rock is Dead" Nameless Promoter for Judas Priest: "Wanna open for the Priest" Geoff Tate: "Hell yeah" Have you ever really liked a band for many years, then they do something so bad, so awful that as much as you loved their back catalog you are permanently scarred ? That's how I feel about the Ryche. First CDG goes, then we get the "theatrical" OM2, then it's the "Cabaret" show, now it's the "Chaos" album an d"Rock is Dead" I can't even play RFO or OM1 without thinking what a douche GT is. Sad
  12. In terms of songwriting, song arranging, studio work and producing, no contest, Jimmy Page. Sloppy as hell live.
  13. Re. the original RnRHOF comment in this thread: Do people really NOT have the attention span to read the next line which said "Ok...calm down......that was supposed to be a joke"?
  14. QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Jul 16 2011, 10:27 AM) QUOTE (RUDT @ Jul 16 2011, 07:37 AM) how ironic to see U2 spend millions of dollars on a big stage set when their leader want to save the world from injustice... And not pay their taxes too. They think they are excused from that sort of thing. Internet Fact - Bono doesn't pay taxes !!!!! Actual Fact - They pay their taxes. They have moved specific parts of their business to more tax-friendly countries. There's a reason in the US for example that many companies, regardless where they ACTUALLY conduct business, are from a corporate point of view based in Delaware for example. I don't hear people claiming Steve Jobs isn't paying taxes. If you or I could find a way to pay fewer taxes without breaking the law we would.
  15. I've been a huge fan of both bands since the early 80's. I was part of the "Glasgow choir" on Exit and I can be seen clearly in an early U2 video. Both bands are great in their own way. U2 doesn't have close to the musical chops of Rush, no question. But U2 has a back catalog of iconic songs as great as anyone else's. They may be "simple" and "boring" to pure musos, but one of my biggest complaints for example about Jeff Beck is that as brilliant a guitar player as he is, he can't write a hummable decent song for squat. With the Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby U2 has 2 albums every bit as iconic as 2112 or Moving Pictures, again in different styles. If writing great songs that appeal to mass audiences was that easy we'd all be doing it. And while Edge's guitar playing may not be terribly complex in terms of the notes/chords he hits, his use of the available technology at the time created a sound that is instantly recognizable, again if it was that easy to do we'd all be doing it. They don't ALWAYS tour with a big Production, the 1992 Zoo TV tour was their first, 12 years into their existence. And even as recently as their 2001 and 2005 tours their Productions weren't really anything more elaborate than what Rush brings. Less so in 2001. As someone else said "it's not a contest"
  16. Queensryche is now a Tate solo band with his stripper wife as the manager. It's very Spinal Tap and very very very bad and very very very sad. Really Whip ? You really need the paycheck THIS bad ?
  17. Exit Stage Left. I'm on it. I can be clearly heard during CTTH
  18. Elephant in the room about Anvil and the movie. There's a reason they never made it. Anvil just isn't very good.
  19. What it will be ? 60-ish mins What would I like it to be ? 40 or so Yes, the beauty of MP is that those 40 or so minutes are so good, but if MP was coming out today there would probably be at least 3 other songs on there that weren't good enough to make it onto the original vinyl running time. Yet another reason vinyl was/is better.
