  1. A girl in my school was obsessed with this band. And Rancid. Not sure if they are similar not really. Tiger Army leans more towards rockabilly. It's quite good.
  2. I'd like to suggest Tiger Army for down the road. It's interesting stuff and anyone who plays a stand up bass is ok by me :)
  3. After college I realized I couldn't be caged in an office anymore so I went to work doing carpentry and painting with some friends and later branched off on my own. It's mostly painting now, but I still build things, and do a lot of electrical and some plumbing. I also work on my own cars when I can and build my own computers :) Here's my Houzz page for my business with some of my projects linked http://www.houzz.com/pro/anewlookdave/a-new-look
  4. Listening to the debut will suggest that you're dead right. too bad so many here discount that album as not being "real Rush" and a litany of other crapola. They were a constantly evolving band, everything is and was real Rush

  6. Seriously? Not exactly a band I'd think of when I think of notable backing vocals. Alex kicks ass :laughing guy:
  7. If someone had said Geddy and Amee Mann, I was going to ask to have my account deleted :)
  8. We've actually had a bad upsurge in ticks around here the past few years, so this isn't a bad Idea. I live about 7 miles north of Snowdog in the same sort of wooded area, so I'd imagine the bastards are just as bad. We've found ticks on our dogs a few times recently and that's never happened in the 23 years I've been here.
  9. I was afraid of that. Payton has Napoleon complex. He wants to be an alpha male, but when you tip the scales at 16 lbs...not going to happen. Man, really sorry to hear about this, that really sucks. But I also thing this quoted post hit it on the head. My Satchmo wiped the floor with my sister's Bichon years ago and they were pups together and never really had an issue. But, they were both females and both alphas and one day the little dog tried to take her food. That Shepherd grabbed her by the throat, thrashed her around like a stuffed animal, and slammed her in the water dish about three times. It was like a Tom and Jerry cartoon, other than my wife and sister;'s kids screaming. Dogs are also generally not stupid. If Payton survives(and I hope he does), watch them closely, put a harness on Sven for a bit with a handle on the back so you can grab him and make sure Payton learned never to f***ing get near or challenge Sven again. Usually, once a dog gets its ass beat it knows its place in the pack, unless it's a total cement head.
  10. AC/DC. I know lot's of people on here probably hate them because they aren't prog, but I love me AC/DC. Music is personal. It's what moves your foot and your spirit, man. As long as it's not mass produced shit Like Bieber and Beyonce, as hot as she may be. Even then, if that tripe moves someone, by all means, play it loudly, just not around me.And I love AC/DC. Sometimes the simplest stuff is also the best. I have everything in my collection.. a LOT of it depends upon my mood... I have jazz, easy listening, classical, big band, even some country (Zac Brown, more of a jam band then anything else) It's all about what makes you happy at any given time... I'm the same.way. Rap, cuntry, jazz, blues, classical, opera. You name it, I own some. Music is like food and.sex. I'll try most anything once, if I don't dig it, it gets pushed aside.
  11. Neil Young Dio Danzig Prince Ted Nugent Also, John Lydon should be able to count. PiL is an absolute favorite, but it is essentially Johnny with a band.
  12. Do My Favorite Headache and Great White North really count as a solo career for Geddy?
  13. AC/DC. I know lot's of people on here probably hate them because they aren't prog, but I love me AC/DC. Music is personal. It's what moves your foot and your spirit, man. 14. Moonies listen to RUSH? http://images.nymag.com/news/intelligencer/intelpost120910_sun-myung_560.jpg I bet it's the synth era. oh, you know it
  15. Nothing wrong with that, but i couldnt live without variety myself If I listened exclusively to my favorite band, it would become my least favorite rather quickly.
  16. I think some of the people on this site are like Moonies and don't listen to anything but Rush :)
  17. He was like Elvis in a lesser way. A smaller icon, but he transcended generations and his music lasted. His music pushed boundaries and innovated, it stuck with you, it was in jingles and in your love life. He was everywhere. Plus, he always seemed to be a gentle, quality human being.

    The Debut

Still after 36 years it's in my top tier of all time favorite songs. Working Man, is NOT.I do love how they've breathed new life into it live, lately.
  19. When I was a college freshman Bowie had his Glass Spider tour and my girlfriend wanted to go. It was almost impossible to get tickets, but I wound up spending a ghastly amount for them. I can't recall if it was 75 each or for the pair, but either way, they were expensive. Most shows were 18-20 dollars at the time. But to this day, only Gilmour and his Pink Floyd tour a few years later put on a better visual show.
  20. Who is enjoying this more? :) Your dog is beautiful! Thank you. My wife was so afraid of shepards. It didn't take long for this guy to win her over. He is such a friendly dog. Such a lover. :) Germans love to love. Seems you've found a great companion. What's his name? Sven. My kids really like Frozen. ;) He's 10 months old. Shit, I figured since you said you were getting a new sled this picture was going to be you up to your neck in the Fox in really cold water
  21. Nothing. Rock is rock, but people who write for a living need to create, so we get labels. They needed to label anything that wasn't missionary position rock, so we get prog, punk etc. Rock is rock if it moves your body and soul
  22. That's not the issue. However. we can create a new one if you wish. So what IS the issue? Some of you seem to be experts on what they are all thinking..... Indeed. Most people here seem to have this magical insight into Geddy and Alexs' feelings and ideas and Neil's intentions.
