Yes, this is an incredible album; it's either this or PeW that's my favorite album. I've always loved "Circumstances" for its absurdly heavy main riff and constantly shifting time signatures (save for the verses). I always end up singing the 5/4 bass riff during the midsection in "The Trees." And, of course, "La Villa" is practically flawless (though I would say that the "To sleep, perchance to dream..." section is a little overlong). (I'm slightly torn on the title track, as it's just a little too repetitive, especially parts II. and III. Lyrically, though, it's a masterpiece).

MP is sort of a transitory album; it's too progressive to be considered part of the synth era, but it's too synth-driven / new wave-y (i.e. "Tom Sawyer," "Witch Hunt (Part III of Fear)," and "Vital Signs") to NOT be put alongside Signals --- Hold Your Fire. Also ~ all things considered ~ half the songs on Signals are mostly guitar-driven ("Ana. Kid," "Chem.*," "Digi. Man," and "NW Man"). As for the start of the synth era, I'd say Caress of Steel started it off. ...What? That little bit in the beginning to "The Necromancer ~ II. Under the Shadow" has to some form of synth! *Sorta
