  1. Just a little perspective here: Snakes & Arrows was announced officially (with the clip of Far Cry) around mid-February 2007 (according to the digging I did in the Power Windows news archives) and the album was released on May 1st. If CA is coming out on the 29th (and as much as phantom preorder dates should be taken with a grain of salt, I don't think Amazon would just put up a date without some kind of ballpark confirmation from the label), that's almost a month later in the year than S&A. So an announcement around mid-March in that case seems reasonable. Maybe not time to panic.
  2. This stuff usually gets announced on Mondays when websites have more traffic. So I'd hope tomorrow we get something official.
  3. I refuse to listen to 30-second snippets. Give me a full track.
  4. From the RIAB post: QUOTE UPDATE - 3/8@1:01PM: For those of you wondering why the Amazon list price is $19.14, which is a little high for an audio CD. Rumor has it that a 5.1 mix will be included, which may account for the higher price, and which also might account for the delay in the release date (it was originally scheduled to release in late April). Also, might not be a good idea to order something before it's announced officially, even when it's available.
  5. QUOTE (GernTheFish @ Mar 6 2012, 09:44 AM) It just seems like it's not the smartest move as it could drive away some of their fanbase. Going to go out on a limb here and say that nobody in the band has ever vetoed a lyric out of fear that it would alienate some people on a message board.
  6. I don't want to live to see the day when Neil doesn't write a song because he's worried it'll offend people.
  7. Randy Jackson speaking positively of Geddy Lee as a vocalist on national TV is a win regardless of context.
  8. I feel like the fact that Alex's write-up didn't mention Ayn Rand or Dungeons & Dragons is a much more significant thing than his number or placement. Small steps.
  9. So we're mocking Mark Knopfler's high placement on this list, out of all people? Okay then.
  10. So Rush straight-up legitimately makes a (non-reader-voted) Rolling Stone list and the write-up doesn't include any backhanded compliments or references to Ayn Rand or Lord of the Rings? Take the win, people. Society is progressing.
  11. So can anyone talk about how they sound? Wondering if it's worth $150 to upgrade my collection from the 97 remasters.
  12. Something about this doesn't feel right. It makes no mention of Rich Chycki doing the 5.1 mixes (whereas with MP they made a big deal about how much time was put into the surround mix), and when it says "Transferred over to 96/24" that seems like they didn't make new masters of it or anything. This feels like a cheap repackaging by Universal to me. Besides that, how do they go with FBN over 2112 for the first box set?
  13. Man, I don't have a turntable. Rush are such a bunch of sell-outs for this.
  14. The track sounds great. Thanks for sharing.
  15. The new guitarist is fine but they really miss Frusciante's backing vocals. He's Michael Anthony-level underrated.
  16. I wouldn't pay to see Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger if they had 100% original lineups.
  17. I understand the view that it's morally wrong to download music. I also don't have unlimited disposable income, and I'm not exactly going to not listen to something I want to listen to if I can't afford to buy it when it would take me five minutes to find it online. I absolutely hate the CD format and can't remember the last time I bought one, but I buy stuff on vinyl when I can. I go to shows. I buy shirts and stuff. I find ways to support the bands I like financially. A lot of the blame lies with the record companies and how long they waited to start exploring digital music as a legit means of distribution rather than treating everyone who downloaded music like criminals. What Apple is doing with the iCloud ($25/year to treat your personally ripped and downloaded files as if they were purchased digital files) and also things like Spotify could be very interesting.
  18. All I'll add is that if you're going to attack potential concertgoers, your live show had better be on point. And from the sounds of it, they're not.
  19. The reason Drama worked with a different singer was because it didn't try to sound like old Yes. The new one does, and there isn't one song that doesn't make me wish Jon were singing it.
  20. Just listened to the single. It's okay I guess, but something about it feels artificial to me. Sounds like a tribute band. The new singer isn't bad, but...like...this isn't something I'll be going back to at all.
  21. Nothing I don't like can be considered "music." Sorry.
  22. Their first two albums are basically untouchable. Everything after that is pretty hit-or-miss for me, but they're always worth checking out.
