  1. QUOTE (FoxxiStarr @ May 19 2011, 02:12 PM) Before we get the "Old Rush Good, New Rush Bad" arguement in here ... I would respectfully point you to "2112", "A Farewell To Kings", "Hemispheres", "Moving Pictures" to begin with ... ALL good Dang, I'm late to the Partay!!!! Roll the Bones is complete and utter SHITE!!!!!!!!!! Buy everything up to and including Signals. (Although it's on the slide after Hemispheres) The rest you don't need. Although Power Windows would have made a very good four track EP. The only live album you need is ATWAS, although I'd buy Different Stages - you can use discs 1 and 2 for coasters, but DS3 is the shit.
  2. QUOTE (Terrapin @ May 20 2011, 02:03 AM) This "wondrous" new technology allows the band to trigger (engage) the keyboard sounds that were recorded in the studio, so as to allow us (the audience) to both hear and experience a live performance WITH the authentic keyboard sounds. In order to accomplish this feat is an art in itself. Well whoop do fecking do, they can press a little button and we get to hear non live sounds in a live concert. Authentic sounds not being played live in a LIVE show. Well strike me down, as I live and breathe, what artistic integrity. Makes you wonder what other thing could be being triggere doesn't it? Rhythm guitar parts,"Hemispheres" Chords, Geddy Choirs, Between song banter (so that's why it's always the same) etc. etc. Right then feller, I push a little switch and a light comes on. What a fecking fantastic wrk of conceptual art. I pres another switch an music comes out of my radio. I'll do a fecking tour doing that, yous peeps would be wetting your pants over it I'll be bound. KEEP FEEDING THE TROLL

I can see Fly by Night, the debut (duh), and A Farewell to Kings on top, but I can't make out anything besides Presto on the bottom. Unless that's Moving Pictures in the middle? But why would that be used for the "new Rush" part? New = VT font Bottom Rush = Time Machine Tour font

Shouldn't he be governing Ohio, not twatting Tweeting? ever listen to rock music dumbfuk? more than a few songs have political flavor. not that you'd be aware of that or anything, with an education in the UK or wherever you skipped classes... I'm sorry, but this board has a zero tolerance policy to personal attacks, so go piss up a rope Fuckstick. Any songs with a political flavoUr will not be tolerated outside of The Sense O'Clock News or whatever it is called. So once again, go piss up a rope Fuckstick. At least in the UK we have a centre-right and centre-left political split instead of two right wings, so we are exposed to some serious political debate. Once again, go piss up a rope Fuckstick. The hypocrisy is killing me. Yup. The stereotypical American cannot cope with Irony or Sarcasm. Ho-hum.

  7. QUOTE (edgejedi @ May 19 2011, 10:15 AM) You must be from Yorkshire, we're all generous from Yorkshire Best thing to come out of Yorkshire is the A61 to Chestrfield Yup, I'm a Derbyshire Sheepshagger, and R8 proud of it.
  8. QUOTE (Harperspace @ May 19 2011, 12:23 PM) Perhaps the next time Rush play Europe Sheffield will be dropped from the itinerary? Should Rush tour Europe again and Leeds has its Arena by then, then Sheffield and Newcastle will be dropped. The Arena was pretty full on the RtB tour and that was midweek, of course tickets were relatively more affordable back then.
  9. Shouldn't it be "Which is the Least Worst?" I choose not to decide. I have still made a Choice. Old Rush Good, New Rush Bad. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u55/Nickslikk2112/Rush%20Dublin/Peeps/P1030147.jpg

  12. QUOTE (garyg7133 @ May 18 2011, 02:40 PM) If you don't like the set list, DON'T GO. More tickets for those of us who just want to hear the music and maybe luck out and get good seats. But tickets aren't hard to come by anyway. Sheffield was half-full on monday. Probably because the setlist is shit, tickets are too expensive, Neil's drumkit is a pile of wank compared to what it used to be, Geddy's roots need retouching - and his new hairdye is a woeful shade, NEP is just such a miserable looking prick, the merchandise is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too expensive, the lights aren't as good as they used to be, Alex's head is too shiny, they used too may samples, the tempos are still too slow etc. etc. Oh, I was front row too

Damn I must have left early I notice a lot of newspaper articles claim 'Rush bring their 3 1/2 hour show to blahblahblah' ..however it is not. Sheffield came on stage (video did) 19:36 went off stage 22:40 take into consideration the 3 videos, break etc they did not really play for 3 whole hours - closer really to 2h20. Still great though but it is something that narks me the time thing. Yes, the Three and a half hour show thing gets on my tits. This tour has the least music of the last three. DITCH THE BLOODY UNFUNNY VIDEOS AND PLAY MORE OLD NEW SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Corrected that for you Now why the Feck would they want to play more New songs on a Time Machine Tour? Professor Pat Pending has proved that Time Machines can only move back to a point that has previously existed.

  16. QUOTE (Terrapin @ May 18 2011, 12:28 AM) Oh, Alex is playing guitar, but he isn't playing all the guitars, if you get my drift. No, I don't get your "drift" sweetie, but I get your retreat. I'll ask you again, where is Alex Lifeson miming, which songs? Which parts? OK Far Cry for one. Double tracked guitar part plays, and the "Hemispheres" chord gets played by the drummer. Presto, acoustic part gets played by invisble guitarist under electric bits. Working them Angels has a double tracked Bouzouki bit. And don't get me started on the invisible Keyboard player on TCE...
  17. QUOTE (Cosy Toes @ May 17 2011, 10:17 PM) QUOTE (metallithrax @ May 17 2011, 02:26 PM) Probably the best sounding gig i've been to. Everything was clear from where I was sat (near the curtains at the back). Many empty seats all round, probably only 3/5ths full and that doesn't include the curtained off area. Based on before show tickets sold, I'd say less than half full. Silly ticket prices = No Crowds. Especially in Yorkshire, home of the short-armed and long-pocketed. Word on the street says 5,800 tickets sold before the day. Less than hal full.
  18. QUOTE (nobodys hero @ May 17 2011, 03:31 PM) Blasphemy, you actually went to the show?? I am amazed! Where are the pics of your good friend Neil? Looks like you had a good seat Cosy, hope it was a good show for you. Neil's Daddy's friend. My front row seat wasn't central enough...

  21. QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ May 17 2011, 12:37 PM) QUOTE (Priest2112 @ May 17 2011, 07:24 AM) First time live for me, and simply stunning. And I had ticket row 21 seat 13 - soooo close!! Thought the videos were hilarious, and it was nice to see the bank poking fun at themselves. And to the 8 year old boy in front of me who knew most of the words - good work!! dude you can now change your profile...from 0 rush concerts to 1!! welcome to the family!! cosey toes is still a dick. Arsehole. Don't you know not abuse other members of this board? The intro and outro vids are shite. We could have had: Finding my Way, Bastille Day, Beneath Between and Behind and the Trees in their place. My ticket was Block A, Seat 5, Row 1. So far from Geddy and Neil.
  22. QUOTE (willowroolz @ May 17 2011, 09:33 AM) QUOTE (Cosy Toes @ May 16 2011, 10:55 AM)Saw Riverside at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth last night, and WOW, cracking gig Gromit!!!!!! Better than Rush in Dublin. Think I'd swap my front row Rush ticket in Sheffield tonight for a Riverside ticket in London. I did give up my Sheffield ticket to go see Riverside in London last night. Didn't regret it for an instant. Awesome gig. Third time I've seen them and they haven't let me down yet. Great set list, great interaction with the crowd. Ultimate Trip followed by Left Out was probably the best half hour of live music I've heard in years. Thought the new songs came over really well, too, especially Forgotten Land. Picked up the EP and a couple of t-shirts, too. The London set list was the same except we didn't get The Curtain Falls due to a 'deadline' - although the band came back on and apologised, which was quite amusing. Shame, though - I love The Curtain Falls, so had to put it on my iPod immediately on the way home Listening to Memories In My Head as I type. Forgotten Land is just as amazing on second listen I'm now glad I kept my Sheffield ticket, can't believe how much better Rush were compared to Dublin! Still waking up with Riverside playing in my head though
  23. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ May 17 2011, 12:22 AM) Why was it so much better? (Or why was Dublin so much worse, or whatever.) The sound was better. The band seemed more up for it. Geddy's vocals held up better. Cpt. Happy cracked a half smile, and even waved for five seconds at the end. Last night was probably just one of those nights that everything clicked. After Dublin I was so disappointed and wasn't looking forward to last night - especially after seeing a great show from Riverside on Sunday - but it was like seeing a different band. OK most of set 1 still sucks big time, but last night it was well played, clear sounding Suck. All the folk in Dublin who agreed with my point of view also agreed that Sheffield was better. Those who had been to Glasgow also said Sheffield was better than Glasgae. Perhaps it's all downto memories of Sheffield being the site of the first UK Rush gig.
