Favorite big-name progressive rock band?
Good, bad, andrush replied to StellarJetman's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Genesis and VdGG is my favorite music ever, so I went with Genesis. Would be hard for me if VdGG was here. I adore and love all these bands to death though. My rating: Genesis Jethro Tull King Crimson Pink Floyd Yes ELP -
QUOTE (metaldad @ Aug 8 2012, 02:50 PM) QUOTE (Oberon @ Dec 9 2004, 11:05 PM) He sucked royally, but that's still a horrible thing to have happened... I've been thinking of it all evening... Holy shit, I just read this a-holes post. Seriously, what the hell? They're not even close to my favorite band but to say he sucks?

Highlight of the year is definitely SW live. I am enjoying Mars Volta, Anathema, Rush, and many others, but I am angry and sad and confused because I have not heard the new Anglagard album and how the hell are you supposed to get a hold of that?

QUOTE (jwoods89 @ Aug 5 2012, 02:29 AM) I own that Tool album. Also, as for the Dream Theater albums is it really necessary to get the special editions? I would but that's just me. I forgot to recommend APC, I love them to death, one of my favorite bands. How did you like Thirteenth Step?

And to do some maintenance, which is long overdue. Wow, maintenance windows are getting smaller - Your potty training of metaldad must be progressing nicely. No more drunken piss all over the toilet! It's a dirty job Figures

I'm digging 1878, beautiful surreal song. Isn't that a 70's movie? Yeah, but spelled deer. This is dear as in a loved one. Uh... oh... dear... yeah. I have to read slowly. So yeah, check out the band!

Space is beautiful, I love hearing about breakthroughs in space. <3 Man has some serious flaws, but to me nothing is more beautiful than us reaching outer space! One point for humanity!

OK, you won't be a hipster, unless you're being ironic. Am totally gonna make a prog hipster shirt, girl sized, and then wear it with skinny jeans, giant glasses, and a scruffy beard. Thanks everyone! I got the scruffy beard but I have small glasses, but I'll never fit into skinny jeans because I have a beautiful Texas-sized cowboy butt and am proud of it, the girls definitely like it Also doesn't happen that I have powerful legs from a lot of Taekwondo kicking.

QUOTE (jwoods89 @ Aug 3 2012, 02:01 PM) Thinking about getting these: GNR - Appetite for Destruction, Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, Chinese Democracy Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo Star I'm Burning 4 Porcupine Tree - Deadwing, Fear of a Blank Planet Get only Appetite, and as for Coheed, that might be the best choice but I haven't heard them in so long. PT, you can't go wrong. But replae the other GnR with Tool's Lateralus, trust me.

Is Clockwork Angels the album of the year so far?

QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Aug 4 2012, 11:49 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ Aug 4 2012, 02:00 PM) No way. Far more into Nocturniquet from TMV. It sounds much more modern and doesnt have the dated 70s hard rock vibe CA has. Im sure canadian ice and his old ass will be around shortly crying like the baby he always is. "WAAAA im old and I like old dated sounding music!!!". Good for you, FYI not everyone here is 60 dude and not everyone has to like the same shit as you. Go change your diapers. You sweet talkin' b***ard, you had me at "hello." I'm digging that too and would probably put it above CA, but acA is maybe fourth or fifth this year so far. Storm Corrosion and Anathema's Weather Systems are my favorites right now. -

QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Aug 3 2012, 06:41 PM) There's been a ton of great new albums this year. Right now its 3rd, after Anglagard and Anathema. Other favorites are Echolyn, Joe Bonamassa, Flying Colors, and District 97. I would put Storm Corrosion up there. That is some surreal shit -
QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Aug 4 2012, 01:12 AM) QUOTE (Good @ bad, andrush,Aug 4 2012, 02:07 AM)Oh and turn vegan. Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! How about I only eat obscure meat? Instead of beef I'll eat kangaroo meat instead. Or rather, eat Jellyfish, foie gras, and seahorses.

Instead of beef I'll eat kangaroo meat instead. That defeats the point Well if there are a lot of kangaroos then maybe but aren't they endangered Or am I off? Because you're supposed to be all "save the planet and animals and whatever dude" then pull out a cigarette and smoke it in front of a non-smoking sign.
