  1. We had this discussion a while back and a younger fan told us that our ears are too old to really get modern mastering. Bull pucky, bring back the hey day of vinyl please. The vinyl of Clockwork Angels is the best sounding version and the HD Tracks is second. It's not a bad sounding CD, but there are issues. I wish I could send the master tapes back in time to Terry Brown and Bob Ludwig. Imagine how that would sound.
  2. Has that version of Vital Signs ever been released on CD? It might be worth it just for that, but that is a bit of scratch for one song. I've had the remastered boot forever and this is probably the same thing like the one called ABC that came out not long ago, an unofficial boot with professional packaging. I hate that cover, it looks like a college student that just learned how to open Photoshop made it. Rush would never release something like that. As I said in another thread, Rush should get ahead of this stuff and start gathering the best bootlegs, giving them a real mix and releasing them themselves. We would be happy, they would be happy, we all would be happy.
  3. It will be nice to have the two versions to compare. I'm freaking obsessive because I just ordered the box set and the vinyl. Here's some REALLY big pictures. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/BoxSet1.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/BoxSet2.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/VaporTrailsRemixed.jpg
  4. I get that completely. I don't know who Robert Fripp is. I do see what you did there Ooooh Oh Oh, you don't know who Robert Fripp is.? OMG. He is only in one of the few bands that measure up to Rush for over 40 years. It's called King Crimson. Thou must check it out. Robert Fripp is the fellow at the beginning that starts the song...
  5. I don't know what came over me. It's 3 in the AM so please forgive me if I wait until I get up Friday morning to judge the next one. We're a little thin around here lately so tell your friends to caption this: http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/WeirdTwo.jpg

  7. I always knew you were a man living on the edge! He spelled it wrong.... He's a cyst ham analist. He sodomizes pimply hogs. its so awesome. I can't believe they pay me to do this! You can pork all day long! :syrinx: I can hear you now... "It's only Monday, it's only Monday! Yeah! Yeah!
  8. There are a few perks to living in Nashville. I got the new Civil Wars CD a bit early today. Holy Cow, what a great album.
  9. Wow, I am indeed a blessed man. My wife is always bringing fruit home.
  10. The Exorcist scared me for sure and The Shinning as well as Salem's Lot when it was first on TV. As an adult nothing scared me more than The Road. It is the ultimate horror for a man with a wife and children. I can take a horror movie all day, but i would prefer not to face the end of the world any time soon. Reality can be very scary.
  11. From interviews I've read he is very controlling about what live or studio material is released. He does not approve of bootlegs. i feel him because i'm a bit of a control freak myself, but there is no way he can control what bootlegs get out there. He has kept soundboard recordings from getting out there lately, but at some point he should go the way of Robert Fripp and grab all the boots he can get along with the bands own archives and set up some king of website distribution. it would make us happy and the band a bit of scratch. In The End (see what I did there?) we are all happy.
  12. Thanks for the video, it brings back memories. It was the first time I went to a concert alone, but I had survived two tours in the Navy and they played Murfreesboro, TN (about 30 miles from Nashville) about a week after I got home. What an excellent homecoming present to give to myself. I remember thinking when they start playing Prelude that it does not get any better...
  13. Geddy was having issues with his voice on the last two tours, but he started a strict health/vocal regime and on this tour he sounds great. As said above, he absolutely nails Headlong Flight on the "I Wish That I Could Live It All Agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain" part.
  14. Wow, that is the Teardrop Bass. I never knew Geddy played one of those.
  15. Yeah, I was a bit aggro this morning. The live show aspect I can see - in this day and age, most bands have or can arrange multiple camera set-ups at shows far in advance and then either stream the concerts or offer them for sale on dvd or via mp3, etc. But the whole altering the catalog idea is crap. Other than as a money-maker - which it would be quickly seen as - what purpose does it accomplish? First off, thanks for the support ShlappinDahBass. And Coventry, I do believe you may be right, I did violate their creativity. I'm saying things maybe I shouldn't have. Still, please bare with me. I was quite dizzy and my mind was somewhere else, as I just had a Collagen Cross-Linking operation. I think that we should completely disregard that top bit as an act of craziness, but the other half remains as a valid point. But still, I would love the LiveRush site idea to become more than a crazy idea in my head. I think they could utilise a site like YouTube to make their own website dedicated to capturing a live performance. Maybe not every night, but a few times a tour. Then the Rush crew may manage to extract the audio from the show and offer it as a live album. (Maybe, if they aren't open to absolutely everyone who wants a copy of a show to have it for a set amount of money, they can offer them at the door of the venue?) Apologies for jumping down your throat, Waves. But then again, with each Rush show being more or less the same set and duration as the next (A nights and B night variations aside), would there be a market for the live performances - especially if just about every show was filmed? I would suggest they stream the shows, but since Rush tends to pull from the local population for shows (unlike, say, Phish, whose fans flock from all around the region), would that offset ticket sales? I have my doubts we'll see the release of the band's live archives any time soon. Geddy is obsessive about what live recordings are released so it is probably something that might come along after the band stops touring. At that point they could probably make a mint.
  16. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/Pink2112.jpg My wife hit the milestone recently in her GEO Tracker (thankGodshegotridofthatpieceofcrapandboughtamiata). I pinked it up for her facebook page.
  17. I like the new iTunes/HD Tracks version and am willing to give the newly released version a shot for sure. Listen to this, Rushgoober... http://youtu.be/5eoVpFiGL0M At about 2:30 you can see a BIG difference via spectral analysis (or whatever you call that stuff).
  18. The blu-ray has the missing songs, but not all the extras from the DVD so it's worth owning both.
  19. There was a German fellow that went by the name of Heinrich Vogelsang. He married and he and his wife made the journey to England. This fellow was determined to get to the New World. He learned English, Anglicized his name to Henry Birdsong and after a three year wait he made the Atlantic Ocean crossing in the long ago year of 1632. He put his feet on the far away land of Virginia and never looked back. One son made it to Fort Ogelthorpe, Georgia. His children moved onto a better land known as Tennessee. One of my fervent goals is to celebrate that man's crossing in 2032. 400 years is a long time to be over on this side. I'll be the ripe old age of 67, God willing, in that year, but I plan to celebrate with a mighty toast.

  21. OK, I'm the only female in a house full of guys. 4 sons and a hubby. Toilet seat is never down... etc. SOOOOoooooooooo I'm the only one who would be using Female products..... correct? A STRANGE thing was happening at my house. Tampons were disappearing! Ok.... A few months ago I went to my cupboard to get out a tampon and there was ONLY one left. I could have sworn I had just bought a box the month before. So, I go back to the store, buy a new box and forget about it. The next month I go back to the cupboard..... and VOILA.... there is only ONE tampon left again. What's going on here? Gremlins??? I go to the store and buy another box, and forget about it. WELL..... I decided to clean out my two youngest sons closet and LOW and BEHOLD.... at the bottom of their closet are the wrappers, applicators and the tampons themselves. I am starting to FREAK!!! Dear God, what are they doing with them?????? I get a hold of myself and tell myself that I am an adult and can handle this, despite the bizarre thoughts running through my mind. I'm thinking, "Do I have enough money saved up in the bank for MAJOR THERAPY?" I go to the top of the stairs and yell for my two youngest sons to "COME HERE!!!!" They march up the stairs and find me in their room staring into the bottom of their closet. I said "What are you doing with THOSE? THOSE are MINE!" My 12 year old looks like a deer caught in the headlights and is silent. My 10 year old looks at me all innocent and says. "Well, Mom, we were playing with our G. I. Joes and stuff... and THOSE make really good SCUD missiles... What do YOU use them for?" "NEVER MIND!! GO PLAY!!!!"
  22. Someone lent me a tampon. I said, "Thanks." She said, "Don't mense on it."
