  1. One could argue that Rush is southern rock. In Canada, you aren't going to get much further South.
  2. Still surprised there was never a Washington DC area signing. Living in the Richmond area, I figured that would be my best shot. I guess more dates might be upcoming. Luckily I was in Nashville for work and got to get a signing there. Ironically I was in Seattle for work for the Seattle signing and could have gone there if needed.
  3. The Crowes are touring in 2020. Yep https://www.pollstar...ingDates&page=0 Seems like a money grab to me. Of course I'm still going (will be at the Bristow show). I ordered the Steve Gorman book a couple weeks ago. Should be showing up any day.
  4. Had to go with the Allman Brothers. Had the pleasure of seeing them over 25 times, including their final show at the Beacon in NY. The talent they had with Warren/Derek/Oteil bookended with Duane/Berry. Not much of a Dickey fan, but he wrote many of my favorite songs of all time. Plus he turned a blues/jazz/rock band into a country/rock band. Shame I can't also vote for Gov't Mule and The Black Crowes. I've also seen Mule over 25 times and the Crowes about 20. The Crowes with Luther Dickinson is my cup of tea. Shame it only lasted about 4 years. Too bad Chris is such a douchebag. Was lucky to meet Warren Haynes back in '96 where he autographed (and played) my Paul Reed Smith.
  5. Gov't Mule always does great covers (TNN starts about 4:45) I know its been posted on here many times, but how do I get the link to show up as a youtube clickable pic??
  6. I like Touch Of Grey. But certainly agree to your point of being atypical/radio friendly. And then the video for it comes out, non-fans become part of the 'scene', and they go from arenas to stadiums. It all went to hell after that. Jerry's heroin problem didn't help.
  7. Alex and Geddy probably already told Neil how much fun it was to hang out with Earl (and Rod) on the train trip. Guessing Neil is feeling left out and longing for the opportunity to play a duel drum solo with him.
  8. Just thinking about this question: (As we all know in our fantasies that the boys are regular lurkers here), what TRF member would they like to hang out with........... Back to the original question. Easy for me, Alex is the reason I wanted to pick up a guitar. And as many have already pointed out, he seems so easy going and fun.
  9. My license plate is now L1Z REED. (Was HMSPHRS). Fillmore East is such as amazing album.
  10. NIce thread. As others have mentioned, the lists aren't as predictable as one would expect. My list would be: Rush The Grateful Dead The Allman Brothers Led Zeppelin Jimi Hendrix (surprised Jimi wasn't on more lists) Govt Mule Pink Floyd Black Crowes Yes Cream (throw Blind Faith in with them) Derek And The Dominos next tier The Who Tom Petty Rolling Stones Black Sabbath The Doors Jethro Tull Neil Young That appears to only be 18, but the next bands would be a tier below, so I'll stop here.
  11. Family is asking for prayers. https://www.nme.com/news/music/cream-ginger-baker-critically-ill-hospital-family-2551376
  12. Very sad news. Much of the mystique of the Dead's catalogue was his credit. Heard of the news last night while traveling home. When I started my car getting back to the airport, He's Gone was playing on the radio. Listened to Box Of Rain when I got home. Was glad to have seen him play live (back in 2002).
  13. Hahaha! Hello my prog son. Yes, I get it. A one trick pony but man can Dan play. Everyone says Neil is also a one trick pony. A straight ahead angry mechanic on the drums who loves to flirt with the time signature continuum. I've talked to Dave Weckl about about Neil. I've talked to Simon Phillips about Neil. They both say the same thing. "An incredible drummer, yet very one dimensional." So I think Danny and Neil are both one trick ponies. Very elite Stallions to be honest, but yes, I get it. The new project is coming soon....... GAD GEDDY ALEX DANNY Also means Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Lol Or perhaps the project will be DAG Danny Alex Geddy "Dag" means many things........ "A hanging end or shred." A piece of poop that hangs off the ass of a sheep that gets caught in the wooly part of it's buttocks. LOL!!!! Classic shit. Pun intended. No, wait! Alex and Geddy should do something with Steve Gadd! Mr. Triplets!! Ged, Alex and Gadd! And they should write a song that Alex plays in DADGAD tuning! Yeah, that’s the ticket! I think I'll try (will once again most likely fail) to play some Black Mountain Side.
  14. Probably the easiest poll decision I've had to make (unless someone came up with a Hemispheres vs Presto poll)
  15. I did chat very briefly with Nick R. in Nashville at the Geddy book signing. I thought about asking him the same question but was thinking that might make him a little uncomfortable.
  16. Bonzie! :o :hi: :Neil: I'm with you on all of this! Geddy's voice is adequate to good on most of R40. Except for Lakeside Park, that even I as a staunch defender of Geddy's voice have to admit he should have stayed away from. After seeing the film I was thinking that I wish they had represented Caress Of Steel with some arrangement of In The Valley/The Fountain, from Lamneth. I think Geddy could have sung that well, and the fans would have gone crazy. I hope you're well. I so miss those listening parties we used to have in chat! Of course you know I would have gone crazy if they didn't play all of Fountain.
  17. , I was there. Thanks for posting. If the youtube videos didn't show up, I was gonna provide a brief summary of a few things that weren't already discussed in previous interviews. My favorite was probably learning that his favorite prehistoric creature is a mastodon. Nick hung out with the crowd after the interview/QA session while waiting to get the books and signatures. Just seemed like the rest of out there who really liked Rush and liked talking with Rush fans about Rush.
  18. As long as there are no flight delays (gotta be in Nashville for work) on Sunday, I will be at the Nashville event with Peter Collins and Nick R. For the Q&A portion, thinking about what question I might submit: Thinking, "Nick if you could go back and redo Power Windows and Hold Your Fire", how would you minimize the keyboards/sythns and give the guitars more balls?"
