  1. QUOTE (Fly By Night fan @ May 1 2012, 09:58 AM) Yes, that was taken a Breakthru last year. Last year was the first time I attended, and I'll more than likely be there again this year. Cool! I really should try to get back some year, but I've been caught up chasing other bands around the last few years
  2. QUOTE (jesse2112 @ May 1 2012, 09:45 PM) I don't know if you guys heard but Geddy Lee is going to be starring in an upcoming Tim Hortons commercial He should re-do that one where they say "Fresh" skeighty-eight times and replace it with "Rush".
  3. No change for me, but that's not a bad thing. I loved Caravan and BU2B and was already stoked for the new album, and Headlong Flight was an affirmation of those feelings.
  4. Thought of a couple more today. One, they get heavy sometimes, but are still melodic and not so overly dark that it overshadows their humor and joie de vivre. Plus, how many heavier bands do you know who take dolls, stuffed animals, snack machines, and blankets on stage with them at nearly 60 years old? I really can't see anyone but Rush pulling this off without being booed! Two, their concerts are such that you could bring everyone from a senior parent to a young kid and not be embarrassed or have them scared off. When I show people Rush videos, I get a sense that they can understand why I like them. On the other hand, Rush are formidable enough to be respected by those who disdain chart music for being too "safe".

    5 years later

I've only had a little under two years with it, but it's grown on me from being one of the albums I liked the least to a lower-middle-of-the-road album.
  6. The synth period is the best and most Rush-y. I love Rivendell, Going Bald, Tears, Madrigal, Entre Nous, Different Strings, Chemistry (hugely underrated), The Body Electric (also underrated), Red Lenses, Second Nature , Anagram, Roll The Bones, Face Up (LOVE LOVE LOVE), Neurotica, Speed Of Love, Half The World, Virtuality, and The Larger Bowl. Tai Shan, High Water, and Superconductor aren't bad. The Trees is a good song, but I don't flip over it like most Rush fans. I think Geddy Lee still has a beautiful voice, and one that I still love to hear. Yes, I know it isn't what it was, but he shouldn't retire yet. And on that note, I better activate my defense system...
  7. Bought tix in Citi today. Still in Section 101, but much closer (Row C, seats 16 & 17). We'll be off to the side, but hopefully not too bad. If I find something better by the end of the week, I shouldn't have a problem re-homing these tix.
  8. Lat year, I got 17th row floor on Geddy's side for Hershey. VIP was giving me 15th for a lot more money. Regular sale was giving me 20th. Bought Citi tix for Bristow today. Section 101, row C, seats 16 & 17. We'll be a bit off to the side, but hopefully not too far away. I only hope I don't get something better later in the week, but I doubt I will, and if I do, I can likely re-home these.
  9. I'll be broke from buying too many Rush tix and road tripping to shows Theoretically, I guess I would, but not in cold weather!
  10. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Apr 30 2012, 08:28 PM) I didnt buy a Ford Ranger today April 30th 2012, last day in April . I didnt go to look with a guy i met on line. Don't enjoy your new car and your new relationship!
  11. QUOTE (Fly By Night fan @ Apr 30 2012, 10:42 AM) http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m93/melissa2_04/P1000058-1.jpg Here I am. Holy cow, I think I've met the guy in your pic, and maybe you?!? I'm guessing this was taken at a Breakthru? Don't know if you attended back in 2002, 2003, or 2006, but if so, I was there! I was the clown from the Innuendo album cover in 2002. Good times! Carrie
  12. Sent you a request Matt - we should stay in touch for the Bristow meetup/tailgate! This is me!
  13. Everything else has pretty much been said, but I'll reiterate that they've played a variety of musical styles and excelled at them all. Whatever mood you're in, there's a Rush song for it. Obviously, the synth period is my fave, but they've pointed me in musical directions I might otherwise not have gone, because they make them all so engaging. I love that they give nearly if not equal time to male and female characters in their songs, and in roles other than the usual boy meets girl scenario, as has also been mentioned. I have to give them a hand for sharing writing credit. All my favorite bands have done this, and I think it contributes greatly to a band's cohesiveness and longevity to do so. Like many of you, their good character and personalities clinch it for me. There's nothing worse than handing people a good chunk of your pay and finding out they're creeps. Granted, I don't know everything about Rush, since I haven't been a fan as long as most, but I think I'd have stumbled upon the "uh-oh" by now.
  14. Best I was pulling up was way back in Section 101. Didn't buy anything yet - may check out Citi tomorrow or general/platinum sale Friday. Hope I don't regret it.
  15. Got good lower bowl on Geddy's side for Pittsburgh, one section back, so I'm happy (Section 101, Row L, seats 13 & 14). My boyfriend didn't want to be on the floor for all shows, so he'll be pleased.
  16. Subdivisions and a few others, specifically The Analog Kid, Chemistry, and The Weapon
  17. Went VIP for Bridgeport in the first couple minutes and got good lower bowl on Geddy's side in Pittsburgh (Section 101, Row L, seats 13-14). Still need to buy for Bristow - nothing caught my eye. May try Citi tomorrow, or general/platinum on Friday.
  18. Hope it goes well and you get some insight, Lyndsey!
