  1. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Apr 30 2012, 02:27 PM)I can't deny the utter brilliance of The Godfather Part II. It's incredible. But I enjoy The Godfather much more. Why? It has a sense of humor and campiness that is wonderful and is lacking in the sequels. As the "Leave the gun, take the cannoli" line so marvelously represents. Personally, I saw no campiness in The Godfather. I saw the cannoli scene and others like it as brilliant irony. That grown men - "family men" - care more about a pastry than a gun and a guy they just murdered, is frightingly ironic. It also shows the sadistic hypocrisy of mobsters; they're caring, yet perfectly willing to kill anyone who went against their interests.
  2. QUOTE (jesse2112 @ Apr 30 2012, 10:29 AM)What! is this real? If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. http://ezinedesigner.com/images/nospam.gif
  3. I'm really looking forward to going to work today.
  4. 1. Music 2. Lyrics 3. The Concerts 4. Their integrity (They keep trying to experiment, explore, improve) 5. Their sense of humor If the Boys were like some other bands - cold, aloof, not good friends with each other - would they still be so popular with us fans? I doubt it. I think their detachment would rub off on us, and we wouldn't be so loyal. Their close relationship is a factor in why we fans like and support them so much. They're unique, and we like it that way....
  5. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Apr 29 2012, 09:29 PM)QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Apr 29 2012, 10:17 PM) My 15-year old nephew was initiated into the Corleone universe today. Had to help him through it here and there..... He's not yet wise to the mindset of Mafiosos and how they do "Business"...... He is officially HOOKED..... He wants to see Part II tomorrow..... Leave the gun. Take the cannolis. He's already adopted this as his favorite line ever.... The horse head blew him away. Apollonia in the nude made him very anxious..... The Baptism at the end had him in awe. And then we discussed which of the mafiosos were "decent guys" and which ones "had it coming".....like CARLO.....

  7. The most out-of-place person I've seen at a Rush concert was the security douchebag who hasseled me for using the "incorrect" bathroom..... Jesus Freekin Christ....I'm two rows off the floor! The men's room is right around the corner, and you want me to walk all the way up the stairs and use the toilets up there? f***ing douchebag.....he didn't belong there at all....

  10. QUOTE (Snaked @ Apr 27 2012, 01:56 PM) That being said I'm fully convinced there will be a 2nd leg in the spring/summer of '13. Agree. I'm not worried one bit. They'll be back in early 2013. It would be completely out of character if they don't do a second leg.
  11. QUOTE (MJH @ Apr 26 2012, 02:46 PM) Dont get me wrong,im really greatful to be able to spend 100 bucks on a concert tic.it was just all day, monday tues going in and out of RIAB web sites..had my pc on at work and ipad on under my desk..finally got those tickets ordered...then it was over.done.i know i know new cd coming out ill shut up. It's all good..... This is what we Rush fans have to endure everytime a new album comes out. The anticipation, the anxiety, the excitement, the "I CAN'T WAIT" feeling that won't go away..... it's a heavy burden for fans of the Greatest Band In The World....
  12. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Apr 26 2012, 02:04 PM) Wastin away again in eastern Switzerland Searchin for my suntan lotion I bought Some people claim that it's the woman to blame But I know it's the damn sun's fault Too soon? It's never too soon to mock the terminally stupid....

  14. QUOTE (USB Connector @ Apr 24 2012, 09:47 PM) 7.1 surround sound is becoming a thing now, I don't notice much difference in it. 5.1 is amazing for every application (1 center, one front/rear left, one front/rear right) I agree. 7.1 is just overkill, IMO, especially because 5.1 is by far the dominant system right now. Personally, I don't know of any medium that offers true 7.1. Pro sports networks broadcast in 5.1 and 2.0. If the audio is 5.1, then having seven speakers is really unnecessary.
  15. QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Apr 26 2012, 04:54 AM) QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Apr 25 2012, 11:07 PM) A couple of video collections of actors in thier film debuts http://vimeo.com/39315372 http://vimeo.com/40588844 Goldblum looks totally creepy. Doesn't he always?
  16. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Apr 25 2012, 03:22 PM) I just looked at a local broker and they have 1000 tickets for sale for the Chicago show already. Those bastards are stocking up. StubHub: 2 tickets, Row 4, Geddy's side, $823.00 EACH 2 tickets, Row 4, Alex's side, $375.00 EACH I guess someone must think Geddy's side is way better.....
  17. No, they're not, and they don't need to be.... All that matters is that they are masters at their respective musical instruments. Masters, virtuosos, whatever descriptor you care to use....they are that. What makes them great is their work as a band. They could be the 3 greatest musicians in the History of Mankind, but if they don't work together or compliment each other, then their music will be crap....

  19. QUOTE (Alchemical @ Apr 24 2012, 08:43 PM)QUOTE (worthog @ Apr 24 2012, 08:03 PM) http://zipmeme.com/uploads/generated/g1335315748876435283.jpg Weak rebuttal. So I can't critique music unless I produce music of similar quality? >_> In general, if someone critiques the band's music with the attitude that he could better, then that is being rather douchy. I'm not tired of the song, but I sure am tired of all the bickering over it..... It's just ONE song on an album that hasn't even been released yet....
  20. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Apr 16 2012, 09:11 PM) QUOTE (Snow-Dog2112 @ Apr 16 2012, 05:45 PM) Maybe even Far Cry That's possible because for awhile they did open their shows with the first song off the previous album. Agree. I think Far Cry is a good possibility.
  21. OK, so I'm at work, and I'm feeling a little naughty.....down into the iPhone it went!
  22. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Apr 23 2012, 01:43 PM) I think what I don't like about it is the monotony. It's broken up in parts like Alex's solo (which is welcoming) but the song just plays and plays with little variety. Same reason I never really cared for Peaceable Kingdom. I get bored quickly. The song could be shorter for what it's delivering. I agree. The added length is unnecessary. Redundant verses as well as riffs. I know they like to indulge themselves, but it gets to a point where the listener gets bored and hits the "Next" button.......
  23. QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 23 2012, 08:48 PM)We're on a Rush message board. What do you expect? Personally, I expect the large majority of the members of this Rush message board to be rational and positive, as they are FANS of the band and their music. Of course, you always have the option of creating your own website/discussion board, where all opinions on Rush are required to be negative. Perhaps you should do that, rather than come here and attempt to force everyone to be as miserable as you are....
  24. The most I ever spent on one Rush experience was when I flew to NYC to see them at Radio City Music Hall for their R30 Show. With airfare, hotel, ticket, food and drinks, the bill came to about $1,000.00. A lifetime of worshipping Rush has cost me at least $5,000.00. All the albums (vinyl, tape, CD), 8 concerts, swag....worth every penny.
  25. QUOTE (Merely Space @ Apr 23 2012, 03:09 PM) No point in trying. Mine is the last show. Oh, man..... I can relate to that! St. Paul was the last gig in the USA for the Snakes and Arrows Tour. That was a LONG wait for us, and the band was visibly TIRED.....
