KJ's NASCAR Pick'em 2016

Thinking about my last post, it's sorta shitty to judge someone because of their name... especially in NASCAR, where everyone's a jr, or a brother. NASCAR lives on family dynasties... Someday Keelan Harvick will be a a Cup champion.

So, while I said Austin Dillon is only there because of his name, I need to add Dale Jr, Chase Elliott, Bobby Labonte, Kyle Busch, Jeff Burton and Ryan Blaney to that list... and they're all among the most talented drivers in the modern era. It's ridiculous to hole someone's name against them... In fact, there's something to be said for a logic which suggests 'a family that produces one Earnhardt is likely produce another.'

I just hope RCR can get a litte more speed from their cars is 2016.

I'm going to go ahead and pick the 17.

I'm sticking with 19 after qualifying. There isn't a rule that we can't pick the same driver as everyone else, is there (I'm too lazy to go back up and reread.)

No. All of us can pick the same driver.

I thought so. But I wasn't sure. Thanks!

So funny ( or eerie, oohwoooohowwwoooo :D) I haven't looked at this thread for a few days and Mr. Blues usually doesn't. He looked up from state basketball finals on TV and says "Put me down for No. 17, he might do well this week." And I say, "Ok, I'm going with 19 . . ." bwa ha ha great minds think alike. At least no one had already picked the 18.

blueschica - - 19

Mr. blues - - 17

From Facebook:

Today Donald J. Trump was endorsed by Brian France, Chairman & CEO of NASCAR, popular retired driver Bill Elliott, and active drivers Chase Elliott, Ryan Newman, and David Lee Regan. France, Elliott, and the drivers endorsed Mr. Trump at a rally attended by thousands in Valdosta, Georgia just one day before the Super Tuesday primary.

Guess I'll have to use a new driver, I can no longer root for Chase Elliott.

As far as Brian France is concerned, I expected no better. Or no less.

Yeah, this house has been cheering for the 24 car for a long time but no longer. :(

How can you even watch NASCAR anymore when the president (or whatever he is) gave the official NASCAR endorsement? You people are silly. You can't support the Republican party either because of the dropped out candidates who now endorse him and if you live in New Jersey (I'm sorry) but you should move out of state since your fatboy governor endorsed him too.

Eeeek, not going to turn this into a political discussion because I would be the first to admit that I have solid beliefs but if you look at me (not all that) closely, like most humans, inconsistencies can be found. :D :D

However, most NASCAR fans I know do not like the France family for a few different reasons (my dislike is based around closing some old, smaller tracks with character in order to open cookie cutter tracks in strange places just for the sake of ticket sales) and Brian France's political beliefs are just something you kind of ignore unless it is affecting the racing. :)

Besides, the Charlotte Observer had this, "NASCAR spokesman David Higdon said in an email that France’s decision to endorse Trump is a “personal, private decision by Brian,” who has supported Republican presidential candidates in the past." See, the Frances are separate from NASCAR! :) Sure, sure!!

We have an all time record for most non sequiturs in one post. And this one is in DiMaggio territory.

Vegas, huh?

Time for the 20. 1 for every non sequitur in FG's post, plus or minus 2...
