Chicago 2 Steven Wilson remix--------------------> Outstanding.

Glad Steven Wilson knows more than just the established prog rock staples deserve consideration.

I believe it is his mission to re-mix every album, ever recorded. lol

Queen

A Night At The Opera

1. Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To)

I actually enjoyed this! More metal than I anticipated and there is a vicious sound to the vocals. Has aged really well!

2. Lazy On A Sunday Afternoon

Sounds like a Sgt. Pepper song...twee...camp...beautiful production...short...

3. I'm In Love With My Car

Strange song. I quite enjoyed it and the vocals are raw and the guitarwork is outstanding.

Beautiful production again and I really like the ambient backing vocals, almost choir like. Reminds me of Thunder Road if it had been written by a metal band.

I...really...love...the...production...

8/10 verging on 9

4. You're My Best Friend

This is such a seventies sounding song...reminds me of glam rock bands (normally something I dislike...). It actually reminds me of something off ABBA's self titled album from 1975. I like it...its lyrically really uninteresting to my ears. Sounds like filler.

I do not dislike it though.

I'm also starting to like the vocals.

5. 39

I thought this was beautiful and the folkish sound with that hint of rock reminds me both of The Beatles (Rubber Soul era) and Nightwish (The Islander).

I actually really could listen to an entire album in this style.

6. Sweet Lady

Oh I love the sound of that intro! And...and...I love the vocals...

This is beautifully produced. I can hear what put me off years ago but today I am in the mood for this.

Wow some really strange arrangements on this! What a gorgeous song...this albums production is almost as gorgeous as Springsteen's Born To Run!

Loving the vocals...I swear I hear a lot of The Beatles influence on this album, especially Sgt. Pepper.

Maybe I ought to revisit that album as well.

Well so far I am enjoying this album. Sweet Lady and 39 are my favourite songs so far.

Hasn't aged a day (well...maybe the vocal stylings...anyive recordings of this track?).

7. Seaside Rendezvous

Well this is a really cheesy song. Sounds like something from the 1920's. Not sure I like this sort of thing...its once again reminding me of the sillier tracks from Sgt. Pepper or the Yellow Submarine soundtrack...not...sure...this...is...for...me...

Stunning production and I really like the way the track is arranged.

Just not my style...or humour...

The Prophets Song is amazing...playing it again...

Wow now see every now and then a band I generally dislike can surprise me!

Wow...wow...

Erm...it does sound like Styx though and the Styx albums I am thinking of May actually be older...

Always appreciated that. Cristina Scabbia for example is obsessed with Queen and loves Mercury.

The Prophet's Song is one of a kind. Seriously I wish the album had less of the frilly jokey folk songs and more of this mental operatic prog/metal/pop sound.

Well I would honestly love to hear a band like Symphony X cover that song...

AND now i know that you can hear me.

this song kills Bo Rhap, IMO.

Mick

I'm holding out...wondering if I might actually do a 180° on that song.

But I cannot believe The Prophet's Song is not a major classic rock staple. Is it long? Yes but its bloody fantastic!

I'm really not convinced this album is going to ever be a full blown classic to me but the two 10s I have given were stunning. I can happily see myself playing more Queen.

The harmonies...not quite up there with ABBA or The Beatles for me but The Prophet's Song is an exception.

I like the frilly stuff though. wouldn't be Queen otherwise.

10. Good Company

Ringo? Did he write this?

Love it it's cute and goofy and reminds me of some of the Beatles more silly moments. Lyrics? Not paying attention I actually like this bouncy little number...Octopuses Garden vibes...I love that song.

Odd.
