Are the Browns done playing teams from the AFC and NFC South yet?

Nope their last 5 games are against the Bills, Colts, Bengals, Panthers and Ravens.

I thought it would be the Jags three times and the Raiders twice, so I guess it's something.

I thought you just meant AFC teams and NFC South. The Browns stumbled to a win today, Hoyer threw three interceptions, they continually left points on the field and they needed a game winning FG with 44 seconds left on the clock, those 44 seconds courtesy of a clueless Mike Smith.

I did, I'm just ranting about the fact that the Browns and Steelers are 7-4 and ahead of the Fins in the WC standings, when their body of work is not as impressive as the Dolphins.

Seven wins and really no signs of progress, pick a position no show of confidence offense or defense after yesterday debacle. It's one thing getting blown out like they did but to show no enthusiasm , energy or anger like the Browns lacked hard to fathom . Shameful fans deserved there money back that witnessed this pathetic excuse of a "professional" football team.

Teammate: Manziel was a “100 percent joke” as a rookie

Posted by Mike Florio on January 23, 2015, 3:46 PM EST

manziel7.jpg?w=238

So why aren’t the Browns declaring Johnny Manziel to be the team’s franchise quarterback? Based on a new report from ESPN.com, the reasons are plentiful.

The article from Jeremy Fowler and Patrick McManamon paints Manziel as being everything that it was feared he’d be, and worse. Based on interviews with 20 Browns sources, they’ve concluded that Manziel engaged in a “year-long pattern that showed a lack of commitment and preparation, a failure to be ready when given a chance in his first start against Cincinnati and a continued commitment to nightlife, which affected his preparation and work while in the team facility.”

As one unnamed player told ESPN.com, Manziel’s rookie year was a “100 percent joke.”

Last year at this time, Manziel was all about football, stubbornly refusing media requests as he stayed out of the limelight and (supposedly) focused on getting drafted as high as he could. Ultimately, it was an Eddie Haskell routine that the Browns should have spotted.

“During the draft process, not one person interviewed by the team said he was going to grow up,” a source directly involved in the drafting of Manziel told ESPN.com. “You can’t blame Johnny. This is who he is. The team knew that.”

(At the risk of being perceived as outing someone’s source, we can’t be the only ones who wonder whether that quote came from former Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, or from former Browns quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains.)

It came to a head for the Browns on the final weekend of the regular season, when he didn’t show up at the facility on Saturday morning for treatment. Per the report, team security went to Manziel’s apartment and found the player “drunk off his ass.” The team put out the word that he was “late” for treatment on an injured hamstring; per the report, players didn’t see him at all until it was time to fly to Baltimore for the regular-season finale.

As a result, it should be no surprise that the Browns currently aren’t ready to proclaim Manziel the starter for 2015. Unless he dramatically changes his ways, he may never be the starter, for the Browns or anyone else.

Josh Gordon tests positive for alcohol, faces one-year ban

Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon faces yet another NFL suspension.

PFT’s Mike Florio has confirmed Gordon is in line for a one-year ban for a violation of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

A source tells Florio that Gordon tested positive for alcohol. Moreover, a source tells Florio that Gordon’s suspension looks to be a “done deal,” with a reversal of the ban not expected.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported Gordon was set to draw a one-year ban from the league.

If Gordon’s suspension sticks, it’s another major setback for a wonderfully talented player who has already lost 13 games to league- and team-levied suspensions in his NFL career.

The 23-year-old Gordon was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2014 regular season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He caught just 24 passes for 303 yards in five games this season. He missed the last game of the season after being suspended for violating team rules.

The news of Gordon’s potential ban further throws his future with the Browns into doubt. After the season ended with Gordon suspended for the finale, coach Mike Pettine said the receiver was “squarely at a crossroads with us.”

Now, it fair to wonder whether his Cleveland career will soon reach an end.

The cold air took all of the air out of his breath, leaving only the alcohol. I think he should ask for a retest in climate controlled conditions.

Report: Jordan Cameron eager to leave the mess in Cleveland

Posted by Michael David Smith on February 4, 2015, 5:30 PM EST

The Browns are once again looking like a mess this offseason. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan wanted out and got his wish. Wide receiver Josh Gordon wanted to play but has been suspended for a year. Quarterback Johnny Manziel is heading for rehab for an alcohol problem.

And now comes word that tight end Jordan Cameron wants out. Jason La Canfora of CBS reports that Cameron, who becomes a free agent next month, is not interested in returning to Cleveland.

Cameron was a Pro Bowler in the 2013 season and played well at times in 2014, averaging 17.7 yards a catch. But Cameron has also suffered three concussions in the last two years, and that may scare a lot of potential suitors off. It’s unknown whether the Browns even want to keep Cameron.

La Canfora’s story paints the Browns as a disaster, with Manziel and fellow first-round pick Justin Gilbert both looking like draft busts and owner Jimmy Haslam meddling in work that should be left to the coaching staff and the personnel department. If things in Cleveland are as bad as this story makes it sound, then it’s easy to see why Cameron would be eager to leave.

Let's hope the change is minimal at most.

The Browns will turn over a new leaf and unveil a new team logo next week, 92.3 The Fan reported Tuesday.

The official "launch" is set for Tuesday, Feb. 23. The new logo will replace the orange helmet that's currently used as the team's primary logo.

Although no details have been revealed, the new logo won't include the iconic "Brownie" elf logo, according to the report.

The Browns are also expected to debut new script word markings in addition to modified helmets and uniforms. According to owner Jimmy Haslam, the altered orange helmets will not be embellished with the new logo.

Browns’ 2015 helmet to be “brighter” orange, feature brown facemask

The Browns revealed a series of minor logo and helmet changes on Tuesday, with two alterations to their helmets of particular note.

The Browns’ helmets will continue to have an orange crown, but the orange will be “brighter and richer,” the club said. Also, a rendering of the new helmet shows a brown facemask, not the gray facemask of a season ago.

The club’s logo lettering has also been changed to a plain block styling. Previously, the lettering had stenciling.

The Browns also have a new logo for the “Dawg Pound,” the nickname for members of the club’s fan base.

The Browns’ most anticipated design changes are still to come. The franchise will present redesigned uniforms for 2015 on April 14.

Finally, in other Browns uniform news, the club’s old-school elf mascot will now be one of its secondary logos, Browns president Alec Scheiner said Tuesday, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.

Browns suggest uniform changes will be greater than helmet, logo tweaks

Posted by Mike Wilkening on February 24, 2015, 12:24 PM EST

browns1.jpg?w=230

While the Browns revealed a number of logo and helmet alterations on Tuesday, these were tweaks, not big changes.

However, the club has still yet to unveil its new uniforms. That will come April 14. And club president Alec Scheiner hinted the uniform alterations will be more significant than the edits introduced Tuesday.

“I do think we’ll move the uniform farther ahead than the logo,” Scheiner said, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “We were very respectful of the logo, and I think our fans have given us permission to move forward quicker with our uniforms.”

Per the Plain Dealer, Scheiner indicated the orange for the Browns’ uniforms will be bolder than in the past, which is in line with the club’s proposed helmet change.

In the end, of course, there is but one unquestioned catalyst for Browns merchandise sales, something that has generally escaped the franchise’s grasp since returning to NFL play in 1999:

Winning.

The comments in the team's press release on the helmet changes absolutely made me giggle. These uniform announcements are always over the top, but the reference to the new shade of orange as a symbol of passion and the brown face mask representing the toughness of Cleveland.... because, yeah, common color references in the American lexicon are as follows..... yellow for cowardice, blue for sadness, red for anger, green for envy, and brown for toughness.
