Might have been some other Ferraris sorry

From Wikipedia:

"The unofficial Daytona name is reported to have been applied by the media rather than Ferrari and commemorates Ferrari's 1-2-3 finish[3] in the February 1967 24 Hours of Daytona with a 330 P3/4, a 330 P4 and a 412 P.[4] To this day, Ferrari itself only rarely refers to the 365 as the "Daytona", and refer to it as an "unofficial" name.[5]"

Yeh sure it is unofficial but a nice compliment.

What do you mean by "open wheels" ? Do you mean the rear diff?

"An open-wheel car (formula car, or often single-seater car in British English) is a car with the wheels outside the car's main body, and usually having only one seat. Open-wheel cars contrast with street cars, sports cars, stock cars, and touring cars, which have their wheels below the body or fenders."

Ok thanks

I sort of understand (ish). Is it just a chassis with a seat, steering wheel and engine???

I am not stupid and know a bit about cars but we don't use that phrase in UK so I did not know what you meant!!!

Thanks anyway dude

I love the Viper but I think it is a one way ticket to certain death wrapped around a tree! ha ha

I also love the Viper, especially since it's built less than 2 miles from my old home in Detroit. And if you think the stock Viper is bad ass, you should see the Venom 1000, Hennessey Performance's twin turbo modification. Edited by pjbear05

Enzo Ferrari loved that so much that he put the V12 365 in the 1967 24 hour race and it cleaned up and became known as the "Daytona"

A Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona driven by Dan Gurney and Brock Yates won the second Cannonball Run. Gurney: " At no time did we exceed 175 MPH."

For the 3rd consecutive week, I'm going with Jr. Yes, THAT Junior. Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (how many of you knew his first name was actually Ralph?). I'd go by Dale too.

Or is he Ralph Earnhardt III?

Nope. Grandpa's middle name was Lee.

I am a Limey but I am NOT an F1 snob, I love NASCAR, I love the background I love the ethos of it all coming from just working class guys honking up their normal cars to out run the law and get moonshine across the county border. I find that very romantic and just something that every normal guy who had a love of working on cars could have done. it

Problem is that we get very little NASCAR coverage this side of the pond.

I know that we had F1 drivers like Mansell and Jaques Villeneve and Juan Pablo Montoya go to race there. So maybe we should try to get more US Motor racing coverage shown in the UK

Going with Matt Kenseth at California.

Speeds are crazy this week... Guys will be pushing 210 on corner entry. This is going to be a race that rewards discretion and experience. Younger guys who are more prone to pushing the envelope and making aggressive moves are going to find themselves easily out of shape. They'll be real fast in qualifying and practice, but it's going to be a real trick to do it 200 times without missing their marks once...

I really like NASCAR, much more exciting than boring F1 where the cars drive themselves

Only problem is that you got 40 f***ing cars doing 200mph very close together with brakes made out of milk bottle tops.

Its a f***ing death trap man!!!!!
