I can see you're not a purist. The best Mac 'n' Cheese I can remember was the stuff they served for 'hot' lunch at school here in Saline, Mich. from grade school all the way thru high school. NOT runny, but the cheese was almost like they'd added flour to it...it was kinda like a souffle type texture....I never got the guts up to ask for an extra portion!

Just made some mac'n'cheese with my breaded chicken drumsticks. Only had 2 boxes of the cheap crap but used real butter added a couple pieces of american & sharp cheddar. Added a bit more whole milk than instructions on box recommends and cooked off excessive liquid Mmmmmm yummy. Just like home made in 1/2 the time. I do however prefer when I do my baked Mac'n'cheese
