My oldest daughter just told me that sushi in Japan is very sketch. Because of the tsunami and also because they substitute dolphin for tuna. Is this true??

My sanctuary!!!!

 

I'm going to VEGAS next weekend! Going to gamble, drink and see Steve Winwood and Steely Dan!!!

Ameoba records is THE store!!! If you go nowhere else in your life hit any three Ameoba location. LA, SF and the Berkeley flagship store.

 

Ive been to record stores in 7 different countries and not one of them can touch Ameoba.

By chance (or maybe not), I'm wearing my favorite t-shirt: a fitted T-shirt of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. We didn't do karaoke but we did hit up our favorite Italian joint with all you can drink booze followed by one of our favorite bars with a bartender that can tell stories worthy of movies. We didn't do karaoke but we did hit up our favorite Italian joint with all you can drink booze followed by one of our favorite bars with a bartender that can tell stories worthy of movies. Outside of talking about some personal stuff, we were on topics of music, movies, travel, ZOMBIES, and 80s culture. You would've loved it!

HMV sucks nowadays too. I used to grab quite a few import albums from there in the 80's. Now you couldn't even get a Justin Beaver Cockknocker single from the dump. It's bad!

I've got three tapeworms from the local sushi. And I've named them Dirk, Lerxst, and HMV! I ate some sushi last Saturday night so I probably have an additional two or three tapeworms to name. Hell man, if someone thinks (for whatever reason) the sushi is dangerous or bad out here, then don't eat it. My favorite food to eat out here anyway is yakiniku (grilled meat Korean style).

 

Anytime I've tried sushi stateside (and there've been plenty of times), it just doesn't taste that good. I'm not a sushi snob or connoisseur but maybe it's because they use different rice? Different vinegar? Different fish? Not enough tapeworm? Not sure. But it is what it is.

 

Just remembered the time a few years ago back in the states...I was visiting my family and they took me to some teppanyaki grill that was supposed to be quality. The chefs are entertaining us by flipping their cooking utensils, slicing and dicing, and all the juggling acrobatics. The Asian waitresses are dressed in kimono and looking delicious too. Occasionally the waitresses are talking to each other (not in English) and one of my bros leans over and whispers, "Can you understand what they're saying?" I answer, "Not one bit." Surprised, he replies, "Nothing?! Why not?!" I say, "Because they're not speaking Japanese. Or Korean. Or Chinese. I have no idea what language it is actually.
