toymaker
A while back Rushman14 posted a cool painting he'd done in high school. I remember also a thread in which someone (sorry I can't remember who) was looking for suggestions for a Rush-related project he could do with his daughter. I see robertrobyn has just fabbed up a cool Rush mug. I'd like to see more fan tributes - homemade t-shirts, posters, paintings, whatever. I found a few things I've done as a Rushgeekfan. A drawing I did as a teenager, which I don't have any more but you can sort of make out in the photo. A "Hemispheres" box I painted a long time ago - I guess to hold bootlegs? And a framed Vapor Trails tour announcement and ticket stub I made to commemorate that tour (which I was so glad actually happened). http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/msspielm1/b0c4107f-f6cd-4177-8760-95ec7ae16bf2_zpshjobaxme.jpghttp://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/msspielm1/IMG_20150812_231757057_zpsse1rzxx0.jpghttp://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/msspielm1/IMG_20150812_231702253_zpsqwwo9gqe.jpg Don't be shy. robertrobyn
I use Walmart a lot to do home made projects. One of my faves is a giant wine bottle collage I used for pennies. My kids helped me it was pretty fun family project. 90% of the pics were just printed off the web on re printer paper. Worked great. BTW a similer bottle sold on Ebay about 6 months ago for $85.00 that's where I got the idea!! http://s63.photobuck...html?sort=9&o=3 Edited August 13, 2015 by robertrobyn

toymaker
Cool starman - wood? This one's pretty embarrassing - I thought I'd try my hand at acrylics. A painter I am not. I vaguely remember an art teacher saying something to me like, "son, some folks have the talent, and some folks don't . . . It's actually only about 7" long. Re: your starman - I like how when you look at it really close, you might not get what it is, but when you step back it totally makes sense - you're defining the image by what you've whittled away. That's cool.

toymaker
What's wrong with this painting? There' a bit of abstraction there, but that doesn't make it bad. Phooey on your art teacher--keep painting! That's sweet of you to say. Could be it looks better on the computer screen than it looks in "real life"? I notice the colors are a bit different - the photo sort of softens some of the harsher bits. That weird blob in the upper right started out as a spotlight, but it ended up being a dark cloud of doom . . . . Yeah, high school teachers. What they say can really leave an impression, even 25 or 30 years later . . .
tomhealey
I don't have a photo of it handy, but I have an official MLB home jersey for the Toronto Blue Jays made with the name "Weinrib" on the back and the number 3. It's designed to sniff out the true hardcore Rush fans. I wore it to a few concerts and got some nice comments. Actually, come to think of it, Farid's wife also has one, as the original one I bought was too small, so I gave it to her and bought a larger one.
