Mr. JD
Burn Aware for Windows. Free burning program. Better than anything you have to pay for.
USB Connector
KeePass. Stores your passwords in an encrypted file and can generate passwords for you as simple or as insane as you want. Speccy: monitors computer component temperatures and can list your specs in detail if you need them. If you run full screen programs MSI Afterburner is better. Sublime Text: Best Text editor.

The Analog Cub
Checker Plus for Gmail, an excellent Chrome extension. Just shows your email with an unread ticket at the top right by the tool menu. What's so great about it? You can make it play a soundbite whenever you get an email, from either a list of premades like "you got mail", etc. or you can upload an MP3 or WAV file. I've got the WAV file from this video :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgK25o__0Hw Edited March 11, 2015 by BowlCity
Mr. Not
For playing videos from HD or disc use MPC HC (lose VLC, trust me)Open Office if you don't want to use google docs / pay for MS officepaint.NET for a lousy open source photoshop alternative ;) Edited March 11, 2015 by Mr. Not

USB Connector
I discovered this great program a few days ago: https://justgetflux.com/ Note: not recommended for students because it works as intended. It makes you sleepy naturally thanks to making your screen not like the sun so it becomes difficult to work past midnight. Keep it off to trick your body into working until 3am.

Apple doesn't want apps changing anything outside of the app itself.

I spend too many nights on my phone when I can't sleep. Edited March 20, 2015 by EagleMoon
