When I first followed them they hadn't even had a winning season never mind made the play-offs! The Dome Patrol didn't exist yet, Drew Brees was still in short pants. This to me is the golden age!

treeduck
Report: Drew Brees doesn’t need foot surgery Posted by Josh Alper on January 5, 2016, 3:26 PM EST Saints quarterback Drew Brees played the last two weeks of the regular season with a torn plantar fascia in his right foot and it sounds like the recovery process in the offseason will go forward without the need for surgery. Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Brees visited with Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte and that the foot specialist recommended 4-6 weeks of rest for Brees before he resumes any training program this offseason. That timeline leaves plenty of time before Brees would be starting an offseason workout program. Brees played well in the last two weeks, throwing for 735 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in a pair of Saints victories. With surgery off the table, the most pressing matter for Brees in the near term will likely be sorting out his contract situation with the Saints. Brees is set to have a $30 million cap charge in 2016, which is the final year of his contract with the team. He said Monday that he’s “absolutely” open to an extension that would bring that number down in the short term by pushing some of the money into future years. treeduck
Report: Dan Campbell, Joe Lombardi joining Saints staff Posted by Josh Alper on January 13, 2016, 4:42 PM EST Sean Payton’s 2016 coaching staff will reportedly include a couple of assistants who didn’t finish the 2015 season in the same jobs they had when it got underway. Dan Campbell made the move from Dolphins tight ends coach to interim head coach, but didn’t get the job on a permanent basis after going 5-7 in the wake of Joe Philbin’s dismissal. There were a few teams interested in bringing him to their staff, but Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports that the Saints have ended his brief unemployment. Per Triplett, Campbell will be assistant head coach in addition to serving as tight ends coach. Current tight ends coach Dan Roushar is expected to remain on the staff in a different position. Campbell got bumped up during the season, but Joe Lombardi’s year went in the other direction. He was fired as the Lions’ offensive coordinator during the season and Triplett reports he’ll return to his previous job as the Saints’ quarterbacks coach. Mike Neu had been in that position, but left to become the head coach at Ball State. Longtime NFL cornerback Aaron Glenn is also heading to New Orleans to serve as a secondary coach. Glenn, who wrapped up his playing career with the Saints in 2008, was an assistant secondary coach in Cleveland the last two years.
