Like I already said in another thread:

"Well this just confirms what we already had very good reason to believe was the case. Remember… Alex auctioned off a meet and greet for a future Rush show at a charity event back in November. Now it seems that all that remains is an official announcement. My confidence level just went from 98% sure to 99.9% sure that a tour announcement is imminent. WOOHOO!!!!!!!"

Alex has already said they're going to have a tour in 2015 so I don't know why it's any surprise if they would announce something. I guess people have a tendency not to believe anything he says.

Neil's Twitter now says "R*40 Tour."

Neil has Twitter? Wow. And I thought he was nothing more than a washed-up, fan hating son of a bitch who refuses to play old songs, drink cheap scotch or ride to the next show with his bandmates.

You forgot "writes overlong boring blog posts and books yet thinks he is a real writer." If you're going to bash Neil, do it right! :P

So are Rush going to tour in 2015 or what? Don’t ask Neil Peart, because it sounds like he still hasn’t made up his mind.

“It’s a true dilemma,” the band’s drummer admitted during a recent interview. “There’s no right answer. People say to me, ‘Are you still excited when you go on tour?’ Should I be excited about leaving my family? No, and no one should. It’s as simple as that: If you put aside the fantasy of it, it is what it is and has to be done. And that’s fine and I pour my entire energy and enthusiasm into it, but of course, I’m of two minds about the whole idea.”

Peart’s bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have gone on record as saying they’re up for a tour, but need to sit down with Peart to gauge how he’s feeling. As he went on to explain, his ambivalence stems largely from the fact that he has a 5-year-old daughter at home.

“I’ve been doing this for 40 years — I know how to compartmentalize, and I can stand missing her, but I can’t stand her missing me and it’s painful and impossible to understand for her,” Peart pointed out. “How can a small child process that? And there’s the guilt that comes with that — you feel guilty about it, of course. I’m causing pain.”

Of course, publication lead times being what they are, there’s every reason to believe Peart’s comments were recorded months ago. Odds are, the band members have since come together for a meeting of the minds — and maybe, just maybe, the Rush dates that briefly surfaced on Ticketmaster’s website in late December are the first evidence of an upcoming tour announcement.

Has this happened before other tours have been announced? I guess I'm asking is this standard operating procedure for Rush? So by the time a tour is finally announced, everyone is in a frenzy? Edited by Lorraine

He's mentioned in his books how he hates to tour and be away from his family. It's probably being brought up now due to his past family crisis.

i wasn't so much referring to Neil, I'm talking about all of the mixed messages we are getting. They are. Then they aren't. Then they are. Then this latest Neil interview is released. It's possible this is an interview from before a decision was made but, if this is so, it is really poor coordination by the public relations department at Anthem, or whoever is responsible for all of this.

It just seems like we are being toyed with, so I was wondering if this happens before every tour is officially announced, or if this is unique to this one?

Ah. I don't really remember it happening before, but then they're in the public eye more now since the R&RHoF induction. Personally I think since they really haven't made any kind of "official" announcement, people are just grabbing at straws. I wish they'd just let us know for sure one way or the other.

Well,

It seems to be the norm with Rush. The fan base always wants a tour. Especially after they have taken a long deserved break. Personally I enjoy it. It adds to the excitement of "will they or won't they"? :D

I agree not knowing is half the fun! Of Course Speculation of the setlist once announced is the other 1/2 not to mention if they will bring along new songs or not?

Gold I love :rush: !

I was just going to say the same thing. I love the excited mystery just before they announce a tour! It's almost the second best thing about a Rush tour!

Seems we're getting jerked around with info a tad more this time though

I would think that if there were NOT going be a tour, we wouldn't be hearing anything at all.

Yes! That's what I've been thinking all along too. How could dates leak out if they weren't planning on touring.. Makes no sense!

Yes exactly. I won't get excited until I actually hear something concrete though.

Family before everything else, some Rush fans will be disappointed or their hope shattered!
