Ok......so i've been here 2 years and change and i've never started a thread. It's just not my thing to start em. And i'm going to start one that's either gonna be surprisingly well recieved. or universally shit upon.

I know of at least a whole 2 people that might show interest in this, lol

So first......Background.

When i was but a wee Fox.....my grandma introduced me to musicals With the Phantom of the Opera. And it was love at first listen and from there it evolved. Webber, Sondheim, Bock and Harnick, Jerry Herman. Anything i could get my hands on. I loved everything about theater. The costumes, sets, hammy over acting.

So if you Rush-heads aren't to scared. Take my hand and journey to a world of magic.......and.........uh.......well placed vibrato, lol

First 2 are 2 of my favs.....song by the great Mandy Patinkin.....of princess Bride fame.

First one from my fav musical Evita

For me, nothing beats a great musical!

Sondheim and Menken are my favourite writers. Sweeney Todd, Beauty And The Beast and Dreamgirls are my top picks!

I am slightly worn out on rock and metal right now.

Mr Foxman, I am going to finally check out the Chess musical, but I also strongly urge you to check out Bjorn and Benny's other musical, Kristina Fran Duvemala. It is something special!

I LOVE THE FILM! But mainly due to the fact I loved the art design, costumes, and Helena Bonham Carter.

My only beef with a lot of modern musicals is that they pick the big name stars with little vocal talent, WHEN THERE ARE COUNTLESS STAGE PERFORMERS WITH A FACE FOR CINEMA AND A VOICE TO DIE FOR!

Johnny Depp gave a brilliant performance tarnished by a frail nothing of a vocal range.

Actually when all is said and done, I still love Sweeney Todd (the film), and the dodgy singing kinda gives it a slight air of realism.

I agree Segue....that is brilliant baritone George Hearn as Sweeney there. He performed the role in 1980 on Broadway and in the 1st national tour in 82. Now obviously he was way to old for the film.........but there are plenty of trained vocalists who could have handled it.........but i guess it's about names. Depp is one of my fav actors but he couldn't vocally handle the role. Not to sound snotty........but you just heard what it's supposed to sound like.

I am just so torn as I adore the film, but the stage performances are priceless!

If the two could be combined somehow...
