savagegrace26
No, Anagram actually has some depth to it which is impressive considering the word play he was attempting. Nothing from Presto is superficial. Edited October 28, 2014 by savagegrace26

Poorly executed, but not superficial. It's very literal and obvious...please explain why you think otherwise? You can roll that stoneTo the top of the hillDrag your ball and chain behind you You can carry that weightWith an iron willOr let the pain remain behind you Chip away the stone(Sisyphus)Chip away the stoneMake the burden lighterIf you must roll that rock alone You can drive those wheelsTo the end of the roadYou will still find the past right behind youTry to denyThe weight of the loadTry to put the sins of the past night behind you Carve away the stone(Sisyhpus)Carve away the stoneMake a graven imageWith some features of your own You call roll the stoneTo the top of the hillYou can carry that weightWith an iron willYou can drive those wheelsTo the end of the roadYou can try to denyThe weight of the load Roll away the stone(Sisyhpus)Roll away the stoneIf you could just move yoursI could get working on my own

Eh, I like the song. Musically it's pretty damn good. Lyrics aren't bad but certainly not full of depth.

savagegrace26
re: Twilight Zone: Paying tribute to a storytelling genius and one of your childhood heroes is superficial? Not when the "storytelling" within the song itself isn't genius...

Really? This is a relative list, meaning comparatively to all Rush songs. These are the "most" superficial Rush songs. Not saying they are devoid of any kind of depth but understand the concept of "relative". And I do like quite a few of these songs. Superficial does not necessarily equate not good. The ideas/themes in these songs could've been conveyed much better. So are you saying most Rush songs have an equal amount of depth to them or the ideas/themes couldn't have been conveyed better? Virtuality is a prime example. While the idea itself is not necessarily superficial, the way it is presented lyrically is kind of trite and could have been handled in a much more thoughtful way. And I do like the song myself.
