Lorraine
Has anyone else had problems with Spyware alerts when here, especially when PMs come through? Some people's (not mentioning names) sigs and/or avatars (didn't really bother figuring out which) seem to link to trackers or some sort of script, but beyond that I haven't had any issue. If I am the only one here that it has happened to, now I'm paranoid. I have no idea what Spyware is. Either way, I've had no problems with PMs. Sorry. It is MALWARE. My brain is running on empty. My brain must always be empty because I don't know what any of this is or understand it at all. I don't even know how to change my password if I wanted too... It means someone is spying on you and wants to know everything you do on the internet. :outtahere: I think.

USB Connector
Spyware: some form of software that monitors a part of your computer and sends it to a third party without the consent of the person being monitored. It could monitor something as harmless as the websites you visit (google, facebook and many other sites do this with tracking cookies. how do you think so many ads somehow are related to things you've looked at online? These are very easy to remove and prevent) or they can be as bad as logging your key strokes. Malware: Short for malicious software. It is software used to disrupt computer operation, gather sensitive information, or gain access to private computer systems. So spyware is a kind of malware, but malware isn't necessarily spyware. They were malware alerts, and I got the alert when I received a PM from a member here. Then I got a few more the next couple of days whenever I would log in here. Not sure what to make of it all. It might also be able to see when you access stuff like online banking, and then grab your login info and password, or maybe it'll access your hard drive and grab your income tax return. So while it may not matter if someone sees you reading TRF it becomes a big deal if they can get sensitive info.

The most common is that it just looks at the websites you've looked at so that the person knows what interests you have. They probably won't know if you watch the exact same video every Tuesday night.
