callmejim
My second favourite band. Saw them supporting Rush on the Hemispheres tour. Listen to Max/Kim almost as much as I listen to Rush. Cool bootleg of Kim's New year gig doing the rounds at the moment-still sounding great.

ytserush
Are there any good Max boots around? I mean Live Magnetic Air is okay, but I just have this feeling they are better than that.
andreww
My fave max song... Another goodie Saw the Websters opening for Rush in 1976. Wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away and am a fan to this day. The original lineup was when the band really cooked though. Kim Mitchell, Terry Watkinson, Mike Tilka and Gary McKraken if I recall correctly.

Thunder Bay Rush
If you go to the YouTube, you’ll find some great vintage Max footage… there’s one from Barrie, Ontario, from about 1980 – 81. But, I still say, there was NOTHING like Max live. I might dare say even better than Rush. Not a fair comparison, because they are two different bands. But, holy shit – Kim Mitchell was something to see on the stage. He was about 6’3” and he weighed about 50 pounds or so… ribs sticking out… but what a guitar player! I remember listening to a radio interview back in probably ’79 and it was either Frank Zappa or Alan Holdsworth who said that Kim was one of the best in the world.

Never got a chance to see him play live… I started seeing Max just after Gary McCracken joined in ’77 for the High Class album / tour.
