Here we go...

I'm hoping this isn't too obscure..

Port Vale FC Rock Festival 1981:

What irony befell this festival involving a replacement band that had to stand in for another band on the list?

If I remember right, Motorhead headlined with Ozzy Osbourne as special guest shortly after an American tour with Ozzy headlining and Motorhead as special guests.

You are getting warm....what you have said is correct, but there was a particular irony with one of the bands that had to replace another on the bill (you are getting very very warm)..

Absolutely correct. yes.gif I went there to see Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Originally Black Sabbath were scheduled to play (with Ronnie James Dio), but they pulled out late on....the irony was that they were replaced by the Blizzard of Oz! Tool laugh.gif

Courtesy of imdb, the best I can come up with is

BA Robertson

Have I knocked it off?????

no.gif

Its still there, balanced precariously. I know this one is a little obscure, so I'll give hints more frequently.

Clue no 4:

The Freddy Kreuger link is to do with the fifth Nightmare on Elm Street film.
