Mr. Not
Progressive Rock bands preferred, but the only really mandatory requirements are the rock song must have been released in the 60-70's and must you must make the instrumental segment of the song you're pointing to clear. The thread title touched on that, I know. Feel free to add... Keep in mind these are segments, so there's no set time. Anywhere from a short fill to an entire solo section qualifies. Most of mine are focused on keys of sorts: Yes - Astral Traveller http://youtu.be/mBzztolFH7M?t=2m7s ELO - Can't Get it Out of my Head Beatles - Maxwell's Silver Hammer Edited July 11, 2012 by Mr. IsNot

Stormtron
Camel - Lady Fantasy - Really any part of this song, but I love how the short part at the end follows the bombastic section. Budgie - Parents - Guitar solo in the middle. Starts mellow and gradually gets more intense, then kinda lays in the back mixed with Bourge doing some Seagull shit. Just f'n cool. Tommy Sawyer
Lady Fantasy.. yes The whole first 5 minutes of Echoes by Camel kick butt too. Also by Yes - Then from Time and a Word.. the keyboard breakdown midway through the song is phenomenal. Guitar solo from Salisbury by Uriah Heep.. somewhere around 10 min in I think... 3 part guitar solo, one of my faves

Test4VitalSigns
It is a song that has been labelled as overrated and overplayed but I personally never get tired of the beauty of the coda to Layla by Derek and the Dominos
