Al Di Meola would be an excellent example however his best albums were in 1976, and 1978.

 

I do think that "Splendido Hotel" 1980 and "Electric Rendezvous" 1982 were also stellar though!

 

Stanley Clarke's best stuff was in the Seventies too. "School Days" 1976 is my favorite but I also love "Rocks, Pebbles And Sand" which is a 1980 record featuring the great young Simon Phillips on the drums!

It's a popular view that Al's best albums came out in the 70s but I don't agree, my favorites are World Sinfonia and Kiss My Axe. These albums are much more sophisticated, with better compositions and arrangements.

Wow Duck! We totally disagree which is totally RARE!

 

I can't stand that World Sinfonia stuff!! "Kiss My Axe" is good but for my ears nothing touches his Seventies and early Eighties stuff!
