I'm a total n00b to photoshop but i've decided I should rework the album covers from Rush to S/A...Let us begin.

Interesting, but you could try going beyond the built-in Photoshop filters.

 

It'd be funny if you augmented or parodied the covers in some way....

It's not about presets - the best Photoshop work, you can't tell the built-in filters were used at all. It takes practice using the tools, not just the filters. Play around some more, everyone starts somewhere smile.gif

I've been working with Photoshop since 1999. If you want to get some worthwhile results take a class or get one of the books and go through the exercises they have in them. You can also find some free lessons online. Occasionally I'll get a good result like that one above, but to this day I can do some really cheesy crap and a client will just love it. The best Photoshop results look like no Photoshop was used at all.
