Nice forum you have here...Was wondering if any members were at the first Rush concert in the chicagoland area ?..It was sometime around Jan/Feb 1974 just b-4 the release of the first album. The concert was at the former Twin Ice Arena in 0akbrook Terrace, il....It was loud and rowdy, from what I can remember...lol..

Sorry...missed that one. I was only five, and my overbearing mother wouldn't let me go. angry.gif

From one Chicagoan to another, welcome to the forum! trink39.gif

By the way...my director did see the guys open up for Blue Oyster Cult many years ago, and he said they blew BOC out of the water.

My first Rush show was at an ice rink in March of 1976 in Mt. Prospect, Ill. It woulda been great to have been at that first show. trink39.gif

I don't know ILS, I was only 13, so I didn't pay attention. I understand it's a Home Depot or Lowes now. Sound familiar?

Yes. There is a Home Depot along Kensington, and if my memory serves correct, I think that was an ice rink a looooonnnngggg time ago.

Well Hello to all.....

Been reading this for the last few years and finally joined.

Joined the RUSH band wagon with the release of the first album.....For best results play at maximum volume....so I did......and have been hooked ever since. At least 33 shows.

First show.... RUSH and Blue Oyster Cult at the Aragon Brawl Room.....not too many knew of RUSH back then, but those of us who did made alot of noise. They cranked....this had to be about the time COS came out or just before.

Also on the Making Memories list Ranhurst Ice Arena....Small hockey rink, up close like 3rd row center sitting on a plywood floor which cover the ice. Starcastle, RUSH, and Kansas....RUSH was the hands down best band... Bytor really jammed.

And Rockford Armory for the release of 2112.....April Wine, the local bar band Cheap Trick, and RUSH. Hall size of a grade school baskeball cout. standing room only...Drove in an Illinois blizzard to buy tickets at some record store in Rockford. Maybe $6.50 Those were the days.

And another Aragon show for the ATWAS tour, we made a banner that has been to all of the shows our group has been to (at least 3 maybe 4 states). They played Xanadu and Closer to the heart..... And introduced them as From our next album Closer to the Heart.......Check out our banner (we call it The Shroud of the Aragon, flew inside upper balcony Geddy's side and parking garage after the show) on youtube RUSH FLAG 1977.

The best part about those early years... small halls, See Factor Lighting, no screens, and the boys just jamming.....and getting into the show....(lots of Smoke Rings Filled the Air)....

Can't forget the Chicago Ampitheater for Permanent Waves tour....5 nights SOLD OUT(saw 2) only Elivis tied that record.

Long Live RUSH

I remember listening to Rush play live at the International Amphitheater for the Moving Pictures tour on the Loop. Man...that seems so long ago. laugh.gif
