treeduck
We're talking about that one or two guys who have been ever present in a band from day one... An obvious starting point on this forum would be Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson... And then you've got other examples to start things off: Ian Paice - Deep Purple Ian Anderson - Jethro Tull Chris Squire - Yes Banks and Rutherford - Genesis Stanley and Simmons - Kiss Steve Harris - Iron Maiden Tony Iommi - Sabbath ...and now I'm hoping someone else will type the many more... Naa 30 years at least, I mean you can't compare Ian Paice's 1968-2011 Deep Purple career to those guys, that's truly being constant...

treeduck
QUOTE (jesse2112 @ Apr 20 2011, 01:39 PM) Mikael Akerfelt Funnily enough he wasn't in the band in the beginning although he's been the main man throughout their recording career, technically though he's not been constant if you count from the bands formation. treeduck
QUOTE (The Owl @ Apr 20 2011, 03:19 PM) Wasn't Geddy kicked out of Rush at one point? That's correct he was fired for insisting in singing in a deep crooner style, so he quickly went back to shrieking and begged for his job back in an ear-splitting helium-level burst of volume, got the nod and vowed to shriek forevermore... briremo
A lot of the guys listed above have melted into oblivion, and the obvious comparision with our favorite trio falls short. Skynyrd has had a couple stalwarts but look at the tragedies there. ZZtop, How long have those guys been jamming? Longer than RUSH? '71-'72? And with that KK has ruined his continuity, Ian Hill is the only one left in Priest, the rest are new boys (relatively speaking) and ex-members...
