Just listened to Blut Aus Nord's debut album "Ultima Thulee." Absolutely superb ambient/atmospheric BM. Nate, check this one out.

I've only listened to that once, but it was pretty good. I'll have to revisit it soon. Good pick though.

Some more awesome atmospheric stuff. Sounds a lot like Xasthur.

Just went on metal-archives to search him up...I have to admit though, his band pic makes him look like a typical tr00, kvlt black metal poser however.

Beside that, it sounds just like Xasthur which is a good thing as Defective Epitaph is easily his best.

Listened to the (so far only) Elderwind album, and I was amazed by how incredible it was. I felt totally immersed with the music and I had this vision of Russian mountain scenery while listening to the whole thing, which I hope is what they were trying to achieve with the music and lyrics. Definitely the most fresh sounding music I've heard in a long time in any genre. Had I known about this band last year, it probably would've been my favorite album of 2012 (sans Clockwork Angels). I pretty much listen to albums in the entirety almost exclusively but this is one of few albums which I will only listen to from start to finish because every song is so good it's almost sacrilegious to skip a track.

Again, I'm not really a black metal person yet, but I'm currently gravitating towards the Atmospheric sub genre. I haven't listened to an entire album of it yet, but there was this video of an hour's worth of Lustre which I loved. Will pick up their new album Wonder later this month as well as their split EP with Elderwind (YES!!!!) later this year.

I actually to look up on Agalloch to get what you mean by "Algolloch on steroids" but after listening to them first and then Paysage d'Hiver right afterwards, I can see what you mean. Discovering and starting to listen to all these great black metal bands all of sudden is a bit overwhelming for me, it's almost too much for me to handle. Before watched the Until the Light Takes Us documentary and even though it had a mixed to negative reception, for what it was I liked it and I probably wouldn't have been interest in exploring black metal further if I didn't watch it.

Started going beyond atmospheric black metal groups. Listened to some Enslaved (Return to Yggdrasil and their cover of Earthshine) for the first time and really dig their prog meets extreme/black metal style. Also listened to some early Burzum and early Mayhem, all great even though I don't care for their personal beliefs.

Enslaved are just amazing, one of my all-time favorite black metal bands. Definitely check out their album Riitiir from last year. It's probably their best to date.

As far as traditional BM goes, my favorites are Darkthrone, Emperor, Immortal, Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon. Burzum and Mayhem are quite good as well.

Also, I forgot to mention these guys. They're an essential atmospheric BM band imo.

And this is from one of the best BM albums of 2013.

My favorite song right now. Probably because I love Tim Yatras, I have a crush on Audrey Sylvain and on Neige(Not a real one on Neige, but more of a man crush) But nonetheless, if Audrey wanted to hang out then I would SO totally say yes!

So, here is one of my all-time favorite bands EVER. The band is called "Germ." Since my favorite genre of music is Black Metal/Shoegaze/Post-Rock/Punk, then this song fits right in there.

I cannot express how perfect this song is. Everything fits how my ideal song would be.

But seriously...Audrey is a dime in my book! ;)

So I finally got around to the new Peste Noire album. Wow, it's about as avant-garde/wacky as BM gets and I really like it. I'd say it's their best work since La Sanie des Siecles.

And if you're not acquainted with the band then this track is a must-listen.

and this vid should be quite helpful:

(And you'll probably want to subscribe to Lightfox177's channel too. He has the best BM channel on Youtube imo.)
