madra sneachta
This is perhaps cheating, but how about West Side Story?? Using original dialogue, Romeo and Juliet with DiCaprio/Danes
ALifeson85
QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Apr 13 2005, 01:28 PM) Romeo and Julliet with Leo DiCaprio and Clare Danes? I'm not really big on Shakspearian-type films and stuff, but I WILL say that I didi enjoy that modernized version of Romeo and Juliet...the one w/ Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. It was pretty neat how it was just like the original story...but, just...MODERN. The last time I saw it was a couple years ago during my senior year in highschool, though. But, i liked it. Thought it was a neat concept. John Leguizamo was really cool in that movie, too. -Matt
Bastille Night
Not sure if this counts, but Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead was pretty darn funny.

I did mention the Mel Gibson version of Hamlet - its the one directed by Franco Zefferelli and it is great. Excellent performances from Gibson, Glenn Close, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Bates and, especially, Ian Holm. I highly recommend it.
