There can't be a Rush forum without a Manics thread! The Manics are massive fans of Rush so it's only right innit? So are any of you North American/Canadian fans off to see them on tour stateside in October? What did everyone think about Journal For Plague Lovers and it's corresponding UK tour? I went to see them in Wolverhampton and it was the best gig of my life so far! Have seen the band four times live now and James on his solo tour in Stoke which was fab! Any Manics gig related anecdotes? biggrin.gif Edited by The Gutless Wonder

What kind of music do they play?

Ooooooooh! Here's a quick run down as their stuff is a bit mixed!

Generation Terrorists - Glam/Punk (1991)

Gold Against The Soul - slightly Americana/Punk/Rock (1992)

The Holy Bible - goth/Punk/Rock/metal-esque ('93/'94)

Everything Must Go - Britpop era (though fans don't class it as that)/Anthemic Rock (1996)

This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours - Indie/Alternative/Rock (1998)

Know Your Enemy - slighty grungey/ Punk/Rock/with a smidgeon of disco thrown in! (2001)

Lifeblood - Experimental/Ethereal/Pop/Rock (2004)

Send Away The Tigers - Anthemic/Pop/Rock (2007)

Journal For Plague Lovers - occasional nods to The Holy Bible era / Punk/Rock/Indie (2009)

(Think that's a reasonable summary!)

I haven't heard much from the Manics but I've gotten a sneak preview of the new documentary "No Manifesto", done by TRF's own GeddysMullet. smile.gif

If you like the Manics you should find the thread for No Manifesto. There's links to the trailers and whatnot. Geddy and Alex even make an appearance!

I'd like to be able to see them but school got in the way of hitting the NYC show, and Boston's just a bit too far for me.

Trying to find their material in North America is proving to be difficult. I'm not sure they even have a distribution deal in Canada or the US.

I'll order online from the UK, this is a great band from what I've seen (No Manifesto) and hope they find huge success in North America.

Aaaaaaaaaaw! Thanks for the supportive comments about the band. Hopefully this US tour will turn out to be a big success but will just have to wait and see. Yeah, from the things I hear from N.American/Canadian fans on other forums it can be hard to track down their records but then sometimes people unexpectedly stumble across stuff so you never know!

Oooooooh! Didn't know Geddy and Alex made an appearance on it! Want to see it even more now! Wish they would hurry up and get 'No Manifesto's' released! What's happening then Geddysmullet? Do you know what he release date for it will be in the UK? Thanks! biggrin.gif

The film is edited and in the finishing process, but there has been no release date set as yet.

For trailers, bits and bobs, and hopefully soon, news, please see our YouTube channel at NoManifestoFilm YouTube Channel

Thanks for your interest!

i prefer the macc lads......

Never heard of the Macc Lads so I've no idea if they're any good or not. laugh.gif

I like the Macc lads, their fun, but they aren't as good as the might manics. You may think otherwise after hearing them though, aS in this example.

Now some people may think it offensive, so I warn you to exercise caution

Last album I got from them was Send Away the Tigers. It was OK but I never listened too much to it. Didn't know they had a new one out. I'll have to go and listen to some samples...

It's way better than SATT, I couldn't go near that one huh.gif

Let us know what you think, Im sure you will like it more smile.gif
