The Gutless Wonder
There can't be a Rush forum without a Manics thread! The Manics are massive fans of Rush so it's only right innit? So are any of you North American/Canadian fans off to see them on tour stateside in October? What did everyone think about Journal For Plague Lovers and it's corresponding UK tour? I went to see them in Wolverhampton and it was the best gig of my life so far! Have seen the band four times live now and James on his solo tour in Stoke which was fab! Any Manics gig related anecdotes? Edited September 5, 2009 by The Gutless Wonder

The Gutless Wonder
QUOTE (Gompers @ Sep 5 2009, 03:36 PM) What kind of music do they play? Ooooooooh! Here's a quick run down as their stuff is a bit mixed! Generation Terrorists - Glam/Punk (1991) Gold Against The Soul - slightly Americana/Punk/Rock (1992) The Holy Bible - goth/Punk/Rock/metal-esque ('93/'94) Everything Must Go - Britpop era (though fans don't class it as that)/Anthemic Rock (1996) This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours - Indie/Alternative/Rock (1998) Know Your Enemy - slighty grungey/ Punk/Rock/with a smidgeon of disco thrown in! (2001) Lifeblood - Experimental/Ethereal/Pop/Rock (2004) Send Away The Tigers - Anthemic/Pop/Rock (2007) Journal For Plague Lovers - occasional nods to The Holy Bible era / Punk/Rock/Indie (2009) (Think that's a reasonable summary!) Tarkus406
I haven't heard much from the Manics but I've gotten a sneak preview of the new documentary "No Manifesto", done by TRF's own GeddysMullet.  If you like the Manics you should find the thread for No Manifesto. There's links to the trailers and whatnot. Geddy and Alex even make an appearance! I'd like to be able to see them but school got in the way of hitting the NYC show, and Boston's just a bit too far for me. The Gutless Wonder
Oooooooh! Didn't know Geddy and Alex made an appearance on it! Want to see it even more now! Wish they would hurry up and get 'No Manifesto's' released! What's happening then Geddysmullet? Do you know what he release date for it will be in the UK? Thanks! I'm not sure they even have a distribution deal in Canada or the US. I'll order online from the UK, this is a great band from what I've seen (No Manifesto) and hope they find huge success in North America. The Gutless Wonder
Aaaaaaaaaaw! Thanks for the supportive comments about the band. Hopefully this US tour will turn out to be a big success but will just have to wait and see. Yeah, from the things I hear from N.American/Canadian fans on other forums it can be hard to track down their records but then sometimes people unexpectedly stumble across stuff so you never know! The Gutless Wonder
WibblyWobbly Productions have just posted on the Manics unofficial fan forum about a test screening for 'No Manifesto's' in New York. Just wondering is Geddy'sMullett a lady called Elizabeth who has been directing the film or is she someone else? Have PM'd GM but no reply as of yet! Thanks! The Gutless Wonder
I love Send Away The Tigers! Just been watching a Youtube clip of the No Manifesto's documentary and James' 'Nah-nahing' is quite amusing to be fair! As well as the expressions on Sean's face, bless him! When are we gonna get to see the whole thing? Getting impatient now!
The Gutless Wonder
James Dean Bradfield will be doing an in store gig and signing at Newbury Comics in Boston hours before the Manics gig on the 8th of October. You lucky people of Boston! How jealous am I?
Steevo
Just saw the Isle of Wight performance from 2004. A stonking version of Motorcycle Emptiness, the usual mediocre Design For Life Does anyone have the full setlist of this performance? And what was your opinion of it?? Thanks!!
