BeOhBe Bob
HEY fellow jerseyite AND fanatic!! congrats on your first show! I read in another thread, it was someone else's first time, and they were told they're now ruined for seeing anyone else live, and dangit I have to agree! Tom Petty is gonna be at Blossom Music Center next Sunday...we're going, it's "her" turn to pick this year's show...eh so? Today all the dudes at work were going on and on about Iron maiden's show tonight...yeah so? NOTHING like getting kicked in the chest with a real LIVE f*ckin (pardon me, sorry) butt pounding drum solo thanks to our favorite drummer, soaring guitar solos and unmistakable bass riffs and power vocals from you know who!! and this one guy WAS THERE this past August with me! aaaaauuuggghhh!!! traitor! I carry two pics in my workbook every day with me to remind me of what it was like... About 15 years ago, when I was not long out of college, I had a roommate who turned out to be this raging perv (looooong story). Fortunately he was out of town a lot, but when he was home, I used to stay up very, very, VERY late to make sure he was asleep before I dared go to bed myself. Saturday mornings either late for work, or chores around the house thanks to this crew of cut ups! Spider Island! Worms! and of course This Island Earth! I made this pic about two years ago, for another forum that was overrun with transient users that only showed up to pepper in ads about their sites. The site is long gone, but there were these two members from MN that told a story about a class trip to the very studio where MST3K was produced. Lots of balsa wood, nails hanging out, loose carpenter's staples, a real slap together kind of way to make TV...but who'da known or cared? it simply is the best damn TV show EVER! BeOhBe Bob
If I may.... My favorite Rush jam Red Barchetta Inspiried by a nice morning drive, by richard s. foster Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson My uncle has a country place, that no one knows about He says it used to be a farm, before the motor law And on sundays I elude the eyes and hop the turbine freight To far outside the wire, where my white-haired uncle waits. Jump to the ground As the turbo slows to cross the borderline Run like the wind, As excitement shivers up and down my spine Down in his barn My uncle preserved for me, an old machine --- For fifty-odd years To keep it as new has been his dearest dream I strip away the old debris, that hides a shining car A brilliant red barchetta, from a better, vanished time I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime... Wind in my hair --- Shifting and drifting --- Mechanical music --- Adrenalin surge --- Well-weathered leather Hot metal and oil The scented country air Sunlight on chrome The blur of the landscape Every nerve aware Suddenly, ahead of me, across the mountainside A gleaming alloy air-car shoots towards me, two lanes wide I spin around with shrieking tires, to run the deadly race Go screaming through the valley as another joins the chase Drive like the wind Straining the limits of machine and man Laughing out loud With fear and hope, Ive got a desperate plan At the one-lane bridge I leave the giants stranded At the riverside Race back to the farm To dream with my uncle At the fireside...[
