Spike
Cool! Thanks for posting this, AFS74. I have the 1st tribute album that Magna Carta released a few years ago - but I hardly ever listen to it. I don't know how often I'd put this one in, but I'll certainly add it to my collection as soon as it's available.

bytorcygnus
Mmmmm..I dunno? I guess by the artwork, we can assume this project was fully endorsed? Doubt I'll buy this one....rarely have these been impressive. Spoiled by the real thing, I guess.
hap
Somewhere i read that the band, and Neil Peart in particular if I remember well, doesn't appreciate these operations. For them it's an operation to make money with their songs. In theory they're right, but I love Red Barchetta sung by LaBrie and on Working Man there is also an excellent version of The Analog Kid.
Cygnus
QUOTE (bytorcygnus @ Jan 26 2005, 11:23 AM) Spoiled by the real thing, I guess. May give it a listen but I agree with BC
furie
QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Jan 26 2005, 10:19 AM) Love the cover design. i was thinking the same thing. Tribute albums always make me cringe.
bytorcygnus
Speaking of tribute cd's......Ever hear of 'Red Star' tribute cd from 1999? A tribute from speed metal bands, including tunes by such groups as... Engrave Speed Death doing.........Anthem Hate Theory doing................What You're Doing Disarray doing............Tom Sawyer Hostile Intent doing............Subdivisions Capital 2 doing...........Tears An interesting tribute to say the least....I bought it off of e-bay.While I can't recommend it as a serious option for the casual Rush fan...I did like the song choices...and it was interesting to see how this genre would treat Rush. How these bands were inspired? I dunno. It must be the kick-ass musicians that are............
Batman
After hearing the clips I will not be buying this one.
Magnus
Hmm...I think I'll give it a pass, thanks; most of these clips sound too close to the originals for my liking. IMHO, a more worthwhile tribute album is the recently released Gordon Lightfoot tribute Beautiful. The artists on that album take a bit more artistic licence. Midway Hawker
well, listened to the clips.. I'm not impressed at all.. I prefer that a tribute/cover try to sound as much like the original as possible. This falls way short. I like Working Man much better although it is far from perfect.. Once again proving that no one can do like
