Hatchetaxe&saw
QUOTE (Sticklah @ Mar 23 2008, 03:30 PM) isn't either Portnoy or Petrucci really full of themselves and thinks they are like the best at their respective instruments ever? Don't think so. They're just two guys at the apex of their chosen profession. I've seen all the documentaries and they seem like nice fellas, and still completely in awe of their heroes, be it Steve Howe, Neil, the Marillion guys... TheRocinanteKid
Seems to be more like the anti-fans themselves who blow it up themselves. Using those fake Petrucci guitar instructional videos as a basis they take it he considers himself to be some kind of God.
Mustard Death
While the videos, jokes, etc. making fun of them are hilarious, from what I've seen their music is the only pretentious thing about them. They seem to be pretty cool, and not as pretentious as everyone thinks.

MP even mailed me 2 free bootleg cd's from 1986/1987! Just because someone wins lots of readers polls in modern drummer doesn't mean they are calling themselves great. The fans are calling him great. Now if you wanna talk egos, i would call Peart much more of an egomaniac than Portnoy, as displayed by Neil's writings over the years.

Tick
Steve Howe is the biggest primadonna going. When i saw him live if he wanted to switch guitars he just held his guitar over his head untill a roadie took it and placed another one in his arms, now i dont even know what to make out of that. John Petrucci on the other hand is a soft spoken guy. Lets face it, he is very tallented and some folks are going to try and make him arrogant because of that fact, what can ya do.
