As you may have noticed, I'm a Python fan but there are a number of others I enjoy as well.

Black Adder- Rowan Atkinson a total crack-up!

Mr. Bean- See above comment.

Thin Blue Line- once again...^

Fawlty Towers- John Cleese is insane!

The Young Ones- raunchy good fun!

The Last of the Summer Wine- Old folks...crazy situations!

Keeping Up Appearences- It's not Bucket it's Bouquet!

Are you Being Served- Are you free?

Any other good ones that I did not mention? Feel free to post your faves!

Those are all great, Sark. (and I, like you, love the MP!)

I've never seen Thin Blue Line. I'm assuming it Rowan Atkinson as well? And I've only ever caught a bit of The Last of the Summer Wine.

I'm a wrinkly too, but my favourite is Phoenix Nights. If anyone has not seen these 2 series' you really must.

As far as oldies are concerned:

Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy

Red Dwarf

Dad's Army

I think I'm going to be an oddity and say that, in my opinion, the greatest British Comedy of all time was on the radio (you know, that thing with no pictures). I refer, of course, to the Highly esteemed Goon Show. In addition, I have to confess that I prefered the radio version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to the TV version.

As for TV, I'll have to stick my oar in for:

Red Dwarf

Spaced (though I didn't see a great deal of it)

Men Behaving Badly

The Mary Whitehouse Experience

Who Dares Wins

OTT

Spitting Image.

All of the above plus

The Office - I have both series and the Christmas shows on DVD - is it possible to wear out a DVD?

Others

Gimme Gimme Gimme

Steptoe & Son

Little Britain

Are You Being Served is great. I love that show.

There's also one I've seen now and again with a younger Judi Densch. I don't know what it's called as I always run across it by accident.

The Office, Little Britain and Phoenix Nights are the best of the current crop..

I'm with Slaine on his choices as well, and would also add

Black Books

The Book Club

Green Wing

and from the old classics department,

Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em

Only Fools And Horses

My absolute favourite was Irish written, filmed in Ireland and featured mostly Irish actors. However, our national TV service RTE didn't have the balls to make it. so hats off to Hat Trick and Channel Four which did. I refer to

FATHER TED

Allo Allo

Done by the same people as Are you being served. I think its one of the best prop-comedy shows ever! Its slowly being released on DVD. The have up through series5 available I think.

Oh, its in PAL format so get yourself a DVD player that supports both NTSC and PAL like a Cyberhome model!

Another one: Good Neighbors with Richard Briers. He and his wife become debt free and self-sufficient, driving their neighbors nuts. It might have been called something else in the UK, though.

It was called 'The Good Life' in the UK Sodoff biggrin.gif Their surname was Good hence the name.

The Thin Blue Line starred Rowan, yes. And Mark Addy of The Full Monty was on for a season as well.

My faves:

Blackadder
Keeping Up Appearances
As Time Goes By
Red Dwarf
Chef

-Jeeves & Wooster

I haven't seen any mention of Jeeves & Wooster yet...has anyone else seen it? It's another of Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry's collaborations.

Baldrick: I heard that the Great War started when some bloke named Archie Duke shot an ostrich because he was hungry!

Blackadder: No Baldrick, the Great War started because someone shot the Archduke of Austria-Hungary.

Fawlty Towers is the all time classic. Only 12 episodes.

Python is a given

Only Fools and Horses is David Jason at his best.

One Foot in the Grave had some of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Blackadder, well Mr Atkinson is a genius with a cunning plan.
