Feel free to post your faves! Those are all great, Sark. (and I, like you, love the MP!) I've never seen Thin Blue Line. I'm assuming it Rowan Atkinson as well? And I've only ever caught a bit of The Last of the Summer Wine.
rickyrob
I'm a wrinkly too, but my favourite is Phoenix Nights. If anyone has not seen these 2 series' you really must. Sodoff Baldrick
The Thin Blue Line starred Rowan, yes. And Mark Addy of The Full Monty was on for a season as well. Slaine mac Roth
I think I'm going to be an oddity and say that, in my opinion, the greatest British Comedy of all time was on the radio (you know, that thing with no pictures). I refer, of course, to the Highly esteemed Goon Show. In addition, I have to confess that I prefered the radio version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to the TV version. As for TV, I'll have to stick my oar in for: Red Dwarf Spaced (though I didn't see a great deal of it) Men Behaving Badly The Mary Whitehouse Experience Who Dares Wins OTT Spitting Image. Milton Bridge
All of the above plus The Office - I have both series and the Christmas shows on DVD - is it possible to wear out a DVD? war2112
Are You Being Served is great. I love that show. There's also one I've seen now and again with a younger Judi Densch. I don't know what it's called as I always run across it by accident.
madra sneachta
The Office, Little Britain and Phoenix Nights are the best of the current crop.. I'm with Slaine on his choices as well, and would also add Black Books The Book Club Green Wing and from the old classics department, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em Only Fools And Horses My absolute favourite was Irish written, filmed in Ireland and featured mostly Irish actors. However, our national TV service RTE didn't have the balls to make it. so hats off to Hat Trick and Channel Four which did. I refer to FATHER TED
Sodoff Baldrick
Forgot, it's not really a sitcom, but the original Whose Line is it Anyway was hilarious, with Tony Slattery and John Sessions, an Stephen Fry on occasion.

Sodoff Baldrick
Another one: Good Neighbors with Richard Briers. He and his wife become debt free and self-sufficient, driving their neighbors nuts. It might have been called something else in the UK, though. Magnus
-Blackadder -Monty Python -Mr Bean -Thin Blue Line -Fawlty Towers -Jeeves & Wooster I haven't seen any mention of Jeeves & Wooster yet...has anyone else seen it? It's another of Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry's collaborations. Baldrick: I heard that the Great War started when some bloke named Archie Duke shot an ostrich because he was hungry! Blackadder: No Baldrick, the Great War started because someone shot the Archduke of Austria-Hungary.
Sodoff Baldrick
I adore Jeeves and Wooster, and just about anything Fry and Laurie have done. I don't really consider that a sitcom, though, in the sense the aforementioned shows are. I haven't been able to find A Bit of Fry and Laurie on DVD here. Chasartymac
Fawlty Towers is the all time classic. Only 12 episodes. Python is a given Only Fools and Horses is David Jason at his best. One Foot in the Grave had some of the funniest things I have ever seen. Blackadder, well Mr Atkinson is a genius with a cunning plan.
