I believe that's the plan and/or hope. Not necessarily a television series, but a movie series. A franchise reboot like Batman Begins or Casino Royale. Apparently, the budget is HUGE for a Star Trek film. Edited October 12, 2007 by ReRushed

Do you think it will be interesting? I think it will be a little bit weird. But yeah... i guess it could be interesting. Hmmm... mostly weird though. But of course, anytime Nimoy is acting as Spock it's gonna be interesting. But overall, i'm thinking it will be slightly weird. No wait... how about interestweird. Yeah... that's what it will be. Having an old fat man wearing a toupee, fighting Klingons bare-handed, and scoring with green women just isn't believable. Come on now! Think about it. Anyways, here's the plot summary I found on IMDb. If you don't want to know what it is then stop reading NOW.... The Romulans travel back in time. The Romulans then figure out where they are in the timeline, then decide to take advantage of the accident to kill Kirk's father, to erase kirk from the timeline before he existed, thereby changing all of the TREK universe as a result. Thus SOMEHOW leaving Spock in a position to change that incident back, and then in a position to guard that timeline and make sure things happen the way they're supposed to. Hmm...not sure what to think. I'm going to see it regardless though.

I would also question any plotline which includes the word "somehow".

Most of the Trek movies have disappointed me (I only like 3 of them) This is the biggest budget for a Star Trek movie ever (150-160 million). Hopefully we'll see that on the screen. Most Star Trek movies come across like a television movie. My fingers are crossed this is not the case this time around.

Arndrake
I heard rumor that Winona Ryder was cast to play Spock's Vulcan(?) mother. Hmm. Trek fans know that Spock is half-human on his mother's side. Maybe the rumor was wrong. I can't imagine Ryder playing Amanda Grayson. I remember Jane Wyman playing Amanda in ST:4. They don't look anything alike.
