Yngwie anyone?

While searching for guitar videos on YouTube, I came across some Yngwie Malmsteen - wow! I'd heard his name, but for some reason I always assumed he as a classical guitarist and pretty much ignored him. He blew me away.

I'd like to check into some of his music - can anyone recommend a good album to pick up as an introduction?

Yea, he is amazing.

I've seen that before, but it is still hillarious. The same guy made a video similar with John Petrucci, which is my favorite smile.gif :

Well, I never really liked him, but from what I hear, his first four albums are good... Rising Force, Marching Out, Trilogy, and Odyssey.

yes.gif IMO, all albums after the 4 first are just regurgitation.

He also did some splendid work in Alcatrazz

Cool video BTW! laugh.gif

Old redundant tick will now point out the tired overstated fact that his band opened for Yngwie in the 90's. biggrin.gif

Very nice! I never knew that Tick!

Well, I am not a fan of Yngwie but must say he does put on a very good show. I particulary enjoyed his acoustic work. I went to see Yngwie because he had Derek Sherinian playing the keys and I am a big fan of Dereks work.

I gotta say he is one hell of a showman who really interacts with the crowd very well. He must of thrown 50 picks into the audience and did so in a very amusing manner IMO. He would rip a sick solo and then without looking just whip the pick in the air.
