Album(s) of the year

Here is my revised list:

Best of 2006:

1)David Gilmour - On an Island (what a record and DG delivered with best solo album since his 1978 solo effort though About Face was great but some tracks were too 80s)

2)The Who - Endless Wire (best Who album since Face Dances though It's Hard had its moments)

3)Rush - Grace Under Pressure Live Soundtrack/Replay X 3 (excellent live disc and counted as a new release)

4)Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life and Death (Maiden's best studio effort since BNW)

5)Paul Stanley - Live to Win (best KISS solo effort since Ace's Trouble Walkin in 1989)

6)KISS - Alive 1975 - 2000 (worth it for the real Alive IV from 1999/2000)

7)Wolfmother - Wolfmother

8)The Black Keys' recent record (singer reminds me of Robin Trower's old singer and musically is amazing)

9)Steve Miller - Fly Like an Eagle 30th Anniversary Edition (counts as new release especially with live DVD/documentary included)

10)The Beatles - LOVE

11)Rush - Gold (repackaging of Retrospective I and II and much cheaper as well)

Best live DVDs:

1)KISS Kissology (KISS gives us the cream of the crop from their classic era)

2)Rush Replay X 3 (Rush delivered an excellent set though R30 was hard to top)

3)David Gilmour Live and In Session

4)Pink Floyd Pulse (was slightly disappointed in the DVD as it was not what I hoped for)

Worst:

1)Red Hot Chili Peppers (where's The Talking Heads when ya need them)

2)Tool (poor prog metal)

3)Thom Yorke (whiny bastard)

4)Pearl Jam or as I call them Hurled Ham (they suck balls)

5)any other current act

2. TV On the Radio, Return to Cookie Mountain

I heard a song by them once. I can't remember what it was called, but it was really good. I liked it a lot, are these guys new?

Yeah...their first album came out in 2004, and this is their major-label debut.

After giving their new album a proper listen, I'd have to put it in my top 5 too. Great shit. Also, me and PK have the same song on our Myspace pages. OMG TWINSIES.

My Top 10 of 2006 updated...again and final.

Mine will never be final, probably. I posted a slightly updated one, and I'm STILL tweaking it. For as much great music as I had to leave off, there's even more that I didn't get around to listening to until after I made the list. It's kind of frustrating, not having room for everything in a Top 25 list, but it's better than other years when I didn't have as much diversity in what I listened to, and had to put in albums I only sort of liked to fill out a Top 10. It's a good time to be into music.

Apologies for dragging up an old thread...

Pure Reason Revolution - The Dark Third

The Tangent - A Place In The Queue

Tool - 10,000 Days

Muse - Black Holes & Revelations

Wolfmother - Wolfmother

Audioslave - Revelations

Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life & Death

Frost* - Milliontown

Secret Machines - Ten Silver Drops

The Flower Kings - Paradox Hotel

Enjoyed all of those smile.gif

Would've loved to put Opeth's Ghost Reveries in there, since I only bought it this time last year and it's become one of my favourite albums. Technically the special edition did come out in 2006... ph34r.gif laugh.gif
