RUSHHEAD666
I am listening to the new project by the lead singer of Blink 182 and the ex drummer from The Offspring. This record is made up of melodic moody music with major influences by U2 and even Pink Floyd. Emotional Pop music with a dash of intellectual structure. Would I recommend this album to you? Not sure. I do like it but is could be labeled as weak, redundant sappy pop as well. May The Force Be With You.................
Cygnalschick
I just can't handle that guys's voice, or whining (the guitarist from blink 182) . I've heard the song they put out on the radio, and it's not my cup of tea. Too happy happy joy joy. But I can see how some parts could be catchy. Moonraker
Gotta agree with Cygnalschick, I just cant stand Tom DeLong's voice. A&A is slightly better then the pure pop that was churned out for Blink 182, but still not my thing at all. I probably would like it a lot more if that guy werent singing. RUSHHEAD666
The voice is the problem with this band no doubt. It's all the same. A 50 minute song. I do like the "Edgy" guitar parts and the drumming is simple yet interesting. AKA Larry Mullen Jr. Hmmmmmm........ Anyway my "Edgy" reference was for THE EDGE, not in any way shape or form is the guitar on this album that heavy. The best thing about Blink 182 was the cover of ENEMA OF THE STATE! Sincerely, Janine in nurse gear PS. Travis Parker is a good drummer but he cheated in the studio. I don't remember the recording studio term, but after Travis lays down the drum parts, the production guys would "clean up" any rough spots, making Travis sound perfect. Damn, I can't believe I threaded this new A&A record. Oh well................

fledgehog
I listened to the 30-seconds at FYE. They didn't really "do it" for me...maybe I'll d/l the album or something.

RUSHHEAD666
Well, I can't believe this. I just listened to the Angels & Airwaves cd again for the third time this week and I love it. I swear it's not the beer talking either!! I went out and bought that Greatest Hits cd of Blink 182 yesterday and I HATED IT!! I can understand why Tom's voice can be annoying, but man the A&A thing works. Why the hell do I dig this A&A cd?? Could it be devised from a simple math equation? U2 + The Cure + New Order + Blink 182 + Pink Floyd + Porcupine Tree = Angels & Airwaves! INSANE! Even the wife likes it. Earl
PuppetKing2112
QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Oct 3 2006, 08:27 PM) U2 + The Cure + New Order + Blink 182 + Pink Floyd + Porcupine Tree - the originality and creativity that made these bands great in the first place = Angels & Airwaves! Corrected.

RUSHHEAD666
You know, if you erase Tom's vocals from this record, it would be great. That's what I think. I agree. I hate Tom's vocals man. It ruins this record. I love the music of this record though. Seriously. Hey, maybe Blink 182 will want to record again so Tom will leave A&A and they can find a new replacement singer and move on to be a total new prog band.................. Eclectic elements exist big time folks! I love the band, hate the singer. Hey just like most people on the earth who hate RUSH!!!! "Yeah I have heard RUSH before. Don't they do that song called Tom Sawyer? Great song, but that singer SUCKS!!! He sounds like a smurf on helium!!!" Life is Cliche. Fast Forward, Rewind, press Play.
