Rihanna- Talk That Talk

Paradise Lost- In Requiem

In Requiem is forever a puzzle to me. It's an exceptional album in many ways, yet it somehow has never captivated me the way my absolute favourite PL albums have. Still, this was a further step back towards straight up doomy gothic metal, and it's fantastic in its own right.

Paradise Lost- Medusa

Paradise Lost- Obsidian

The last two Paradise Lost albums to date each initially let me down.

Now? Oof...I rank them highly!

Medusa eschews hooks for dark atmosphere. It's actually incredibly beautiful. Obsidian is the perfect place for newbies.

Doobie Brothers-One Step Closer (9/10)

Been a bit obsessed with this album.  Being one i never listen to as much.  Always thought and it was weaker.  and i'd hear that too (you can deny it but the powerr of word of mouth and general opinion in music is VERY powerful)  and it's like i'm just discovering it.

Yes it has more in common with a Michael Mcdonald solo album.  BUT it has that late 70'searly 80's smooth vibe i love.

The Last Hero is a masterpiece.

This was  a weird spin....i mean for me.

Miles Davis-Kind of Blue.

i tried.  really REALLY tried. but this kind of music just.......right over my head.  i respect this man.  but this stuff ain't me and it's ok.  in fact it was torturous and that just told me i can save my time and energy.

Mick

I love this album.  Also his Sketches of Spain and Bitches Brew albums.

Never could enjoy Zappa enough to listen to him on any regular basis. Tried a few times and nothing.

it's ok.  he's not for everyone.  i enjoy his arrangements more than his humour and lyrics  which is mostly toilet stuff. oh and i LOVE his guitar work.

The lyrics do not even register to me.

I've been trying Miles Davis and i have a similar reaction you do to Zappa.  i respect him but god was i annoyed the ENTIRE time. lol.

Mirrors (Blue Öyster Cult album) - Wikipedia

I'm not sure that many BOC fans love this album, but it's my 2nd favorite after the debut.

Is this not a fan fave? I love it

I always thought that many BOC fans deemed it subpar based on what I've read over the years.

I love BOC, never really spoken to any fans outside this forum

i've heard fans say it's too castrated and slick.

some fans won't go beyond the first 3.

BOC fans are all different in their cut off points though.

BOC were always slick...I see people talk about them as a great metal band...I think of them as...something

They are their own damn genre lmao

They are the band Ghost come close to being at times.

Blue Oyster Cult-Mirrors (8/10)

True it's not my fav BOC

i think i like the first 3 plus Spectres and Fire of Unknown Origin. WAY more than this but it's a still enjoyable.

HOWEVER i can play devil's advocate and realize why it's low with a lot fans. it's just a cut or two below my fav BOC,
